Wings
It had nagged at her, that one little itch where she could reach to scratch, that little flicker of thought that bothered her, that tiny and insignificant question tugging at her, constantly having to be pushed to the back of her mind.
Yuki Cross sat on top of the brick wall, legs dangling down, short fawn hair being whipped around by a particularly fierce wind.
She was watching the night class instead of patrolling the school, as she should have been doing, and allowing for that annoying thought to finally surface.
Why don't they have wings?
Kaname-sama, turned and spotted her looking down on his fellow classmates and smiled.
Weren't vampires meant to have wings?
She blushed, as she always did when he looked at her, but smiled back.
Kidnapping the fair maiden and flying her back to his coffin, weren't vampires like that?
The pureblood vampire watched her for a moment more before turning away to speak to a classmate.
Leathery wings, like a bat's.
Yuki sat up and brushed some dirt off and began to walk away when she Kaname look up again.
But what would Kaname's wings look like a wonder?
He smiled again and walked away from her, out of her line of sight from this position high up.
Perhaps more like an … Angel's?
She took a tentative step forward, careful not to fall of the wall, trying to see him.
But, vampires are nothing like angels right?
Yuki tried to lean forward, desperate to Kaname again, but suddenly she could feel herself falling.
Kaname-sama is different though…
Two hands pulled her back and she stumbled into her rescuer's arms.
But, all the same, I couldn't imagine with an angel's wings.
"Kaname-sama!" Yuki flushed when she saw who was holding her, but the pureblood simply smiled again.
Maybe Kaname-sama doesn't need wings?
He gently held her chin with a firm hand. "I love you Yuki." And kissed her.
And that's when Yuki found out the answer to that irritating question.
Kaname really didn't need wings to fly his fair maiden to his castle,
Because Yuki, his fair maiden, had already been lured into it.

Aha. Stupid question I know, but I always wondered the same. Reviews would be appreciated! Flames are good for roasting marshmallows. So long as they are not so hot that I'll burn my darling marshies!
