(A/N: Ok, so I just saw The Voyage of The Dawn Treader, and I immediately noticed Lucy flirting with Caspian. When I read The Voyage of The Dawn Treader I thought that, even though he marries Ramandu's Daughter, there was something deeper between Caspian and Lucy. I started thinking that as soon as she sees him and stutters his name in the book. As I watched the movie, I was just so glad I was not the only one who saw it like that.
I'm not exactly sure what the age difference is supposed to be between Caspian and Lucy in the movie (or the books), but for this poem I ended up going with the idea that he's too old for her. I don't hate Caspian in the movie (or the books), but this is just how the poem came out.)
Out Of Their Eyes, Behind Their Backs
Lucy's tucking a lock of hair behind her ear,
like that blonde with the soldier,
asking if Caspian's found a queen
in their absence.
Susan's still on his mind, in his heart.
Lucy thinks her flirting failed,
but Caspian can't help but give her a smile.
And Edmund's standing right there,
oblivious.
His mother wasn't there,
telling him to take care of Lucy,
but shouldn't an older brother
catch a man moving in on his kid sister.
Eustace is too busy complaining and stealing oranges,
but it's not like he would have cared about her.
The Pevensies were something he wanted to pin on the wall.
Reepicheep's eyes burn into Eustace,
and the mouse rarely glimpses Lucy.
Aslan warned her about succumbing to vanity.
But was that the only reason He didn't want her
to change her look?
Was He worried she would attract
someone she didn't match?
What grown men want
and what growing girls are ready for
don't exactly fit like puzzle pieces.
But they never had to deal with that.
There were slaves to free, storms to face.
Eventually they had to part ways at a wall of sea.
Edmund turned his back and missed the kind of goodbye embrace
between Lucy and Caspian
that has become a cliché in romance films.
Maybe, Aslan was the only one who saw it.
Is that why He told Caspian he was already a better king?
He chose Lilliandil over Lucy.
