The Animorphs are infiltrating the Yeerk Pool when they see a human running for his life but even if they rescue him what are they to do with him? And could he fit in with the other Animorphs?
Chapter 1
Martin ran as fast as he could and he was surprised at how fast that was. The adrenaline coursed round his body as he headed for the stairs but he knew he wasn't going nearly fast enough.
Hork-Bajir are very fast and the two Yeerks had quickly got their act together and got their Hork-Bajir bodies moving quickly towards the running human and Martin knew he didn't have long. Soon the slug would be wrapped around his head again, controlling his every move. He'd got lucky as the Hork-Bajir had held him down one of the Hork-Bajir (the real Hork-Bajir) had rebelled against the Yeerk and hit out at the other one it had only lasted a couple of seconds but it had been all he'd needed.
He felt their hand grab his and he was lifted through the air but then the Hork-Bajir dropped him and Martin gasped as a tiger leapt at the Hork-Bajir.
He didn't even think about it he carried on running up the stairs to where he knew the exit was but he couldn't help himself glance behind him and when he did he saw the tiger turn around and follow him but he didn't stop to pause. He just kept on running. However Yeerk re-enforcements were assembling and the Hork-Bajir were racing after them up the stairs. Martin crashed through a door and into the shopping centre from where "he" had entered the Yeerk pool.
It wasn't Hork-Bajir that followed him know he'd got away from the pool it was now normal human controllers they wouldn't go as fast and he felt hope surge through him.
He rounded the corner just as the first human controller stepped into his view and he sprinted as fast as he could. He made his way out into the cool air when he heard thought speak. Of course having had a Yeerk in his head for the past 18 months Martin knew all about Andalite's and thought speak but it was still a shock to hear it. He glanced around but couldn't tell where it was coming from.
Listen to me. I'm going to help you. Follow my instructions or you'll soon be either dead or a controller. Nod if you understand and start running to your left because you've got human controllers with guns coming from the right"
Martin nodded and began to run to his left.
