(Hey everyone! This is my first story and I would like to dedicate it to my favorite PS4 zombie game, Dying Light. Sorry if the story isn't so good, I am a bit rusty. Feedback is much appreciated, but if you are going to criticize the chapter please make it constructive and don't rant. Thanks!)

"Mei.. Mei!" a muffled noise said. The radio vibrated. I sat up, yawned and fumbled with my radio.

"Yeah, yeah.. I hear you. Who is this, copy?"

"Its Kyle. Looks like we finally get a job together, eh cuz?" he said jokingly. That's the Kyle Crane I know and love. My name is Mei Crane, Kyle's old cousin. Or should I say young. We haven't really talked since a couple years ago. He works with a "shadow agency" as he called them. He never really told me anything else about his job. I was just a normal agent, your average hit-and-run, break in, tech expert average agent. I was top in my class but men like Kyle and others outdid me. We were close as kids but now.. We never really got to talk anymore. I'm glad I get to see him again and better yet, do a job with him.

"Yeah, Kyle. It's good to see you again."

"You too, Mei. We're almost ready to drop. You ready?"

"Yeah." I said, tightening my windbreaker undershirt and heavy armor. Me and Kyle both liked the color green as children. "Make sure to wear green today." he would say as he walked me to school.

"You're wearing the green I told you, right?" he asked.

"Copy. Green shirt, green flares." As a custom of our agency we would wear flares while deploying. All the others would wear red but we would wear green so we could find each other. We thought this was just another smash-and-grab on a small-town gang. We were drop-dead wrong.

As the doors opened the wind flooded my ears with a loud hissing sound. I wasn't used to parachuting. I mostly infiltrated via ground or water.

"You'll be fine, Mei. Keep your knees up, arms spread out at your sides and pull your parachute when your altimeter starts beeping."

"Got it." I said, confident. This was gonna be fine.

"Alright, all agents deploy and find the file!" the agency adviser said as people from my plane and many others hopped out and red smoke filled the air. I jumped out and looked around for any trace of green smoke. I turned my head and noticed the green smoke behind me. I hadn't learned how to fly backwards without tumbling, and he was below me so we were separated. I patched in my voice chat with Kyle.

"Kyle, looks like we're gonna be separated. We'll meet when we land, looks about three to four blocks difference."

"Gotcha Mei, your doing great."

"Thanks." I said and patched out. I heard a loud beeping in my speaker and looked at my altimeter. It read "DEPLOY CHUTE." in bright bold red letters. I pulled on my ripcord and waited. Nothing. I pulled harder and still nothing. I started to freak out as my altimeter sounded a siren-like wail as I could see the ground becoming bigger and bigger. Shit! Snapping myself out of my flipping-out state I pulled a red ripcord on my back and my chute shot off in the air.

"Mei? Mei! Pull your damn chute!"

"Not working! I'm getting the emergency!" I yelled into my comms unit and pulled a small ripcord below my larger one. I felt my body jerk hard into the air as my chute spread out and slowed me down. It didn't slow me down enough, however, as I was still going 40 mph toward the ground. I prepared for impact and bent my legs as the crash came.
