The room was cast in an uncomfortable silence, broken only by the occasional grumbles coming from Matt. He and his brother were sitting abnormally close to each other in a corner of Oliver's living room, both seeming to take comfort in mugs of hot chocolate. There was a puff of air that stirred the room as Oliver quietly entered with a tray of snacks and a coffee for Francois. He wore an apron and donned a large pink bow on the back of his head.
The Frenchman was hunched over in his position on the couch, a half-smoked cigarette clasped firmly between two fingers. For once he wouldn't be lectured about smoking indoors. He didn't accept the coffee, instead letting Oliver place it on the small table in front of him before taking a seat himself, twiddling his thumbs and not looking at anything in particular.
For a moment there was only stillness before Oliver piped up.
"So I was thinking-"
"Why did you do it?" He was stopped in his tracks by Francois' question. Matt and Allen finally looked up expectantly at the strawberry blond.
He licked his lips nervously, "W-well… I just got a bit carried away. But I mean the past is in the past! Can't we all just-"
"None of us wanted this." Francois cut in again darkly, taking a drag off his cigarette.
"He's right!" Allen called loudly from the other side of the room, "It was your idea! We wanted no part!" Matt hushed him but seemed to be nodding his agreement.
"Um, yes, your right…" Oliver mumbled quietly only to perk up a bit. "But I must say I'm quite proud of myself! I never thought I would be able to convince any of you to-"
"Don't." The deathly tone cut him off once more. Francois took a final drag before snuffing out the stick. Oliver looked down ashamed, removing his hair bow to stroke it comfortingly between his fingers. He squirmed slightly under the frenchman's grim glare.
After another moment of silence, Francois spoke up again.
"So, is there anything you'd like to say to me?"
Oliver twitched slightly before meeting the others stare.
"I'm… I'm sorry that I got way too into playing house and kissed you passionately."
