No Place Like Home

Hi! I'm not dead… Sorry I haven't been able to post anything lately… I've been having exams and was banned from the computer as long as I had them. My major exam will be coming up soon so expect nothing again for a while. But this one has been sitting around somewhere for sometime so enjoy. I don't think it has anything to do with the manga but here, anyway.

Disclaimer: I do not own One Piece.

There really is no place like home, Robin reflects as the three young crew mates tumble past her, shrieking and yelling. The sun feels good on her skin, finally she is free of the cold. By her side is their navigator, she is once more examining her map. Sanji comes dancing up, bringing drinks, and she is surprised by the feeling she gets, she has missed him. Franky is on the decks showing Luffy, Chopper and Ussop, now that they have stopped their impromptu game of tag, his new modifications. Brooke is playing sweetly on his violin, coaxing deep enriched sounds from such a simple instrument. Zoro is snoring on the decks, legs sticking out to trip a dancing blonde on the way back to the kitchens. She smiles as the inevitable happens, the two start fighting, attracting the others attention. A small memory is brought forth in her mind at the sight of the fight.

She smiles at the two revolutionaries who are arguing quietly over who tripped who. It reminded her of a certain duo on another ship, on a grassy deck with physical fighting. Her smile became sad.

"Is something the matter, Miss Nico?" Dragon asked, materializing suddenly behind her.

"No." she replied. "Just thinking of happier times."

To her surprise, Dragon sighed heavily.

"Ah, I see."

There was silence as he brooded something.

"Actually Miss Nico, I had approached you to discuss a certain matter but it seems you have already given me your answer."

"My answer?" Robin asked, puzzled. How could she have given an answer without knowing what the question was?

"Yes..."

When he did not reveal further, she pressed him. It irked her not to know.

"May I at least know what the question was?"

"Ah... I suppose there is no harm in telling you... I wanted to ask if you would join us, the revolutionaries. You are a knowledgeable woman and you would greatly help us in our quest."

Robin smiled. The answer was given again at once.

"I am very sorry but I cannot."

"Well, if I may, can I ask why?"

Again she smiled, but this time there were traces of tenderness.

"I cannot leave my home."

Dragon nodded, understanding. No matter how good the offer she would not, could not abandon her home and her family.

"You have my respect, Miss Nico." Dragon stated before leaving her.

Home... Robin mused. She could have stayed with people of her own intelligence, or at least with a rough understanding of what she was talking about and yet, she chose to return to these people, the ones who found it hard to understand simple things, much less harder ones. But it was with these people she had a bond with. It didn't matter that they didn't understand things, they understood what was important. And that was enough. They were her family. And where there was family, there was a home.
