I think that it is universally recognised that at some point or another, we fall in love with someone that we know we shouldn't.
Amelia Pond has been in what she can only describe as a fairytale love for ten years now and it's about time she came clean.
She had first met him when she was 4 and now at the grand old age of 14 she had finally worked up enough courage to walk across the school field and approach him.
As usual he was sat under the same tree, throwing an apple into the branches and sending leaves fluttering everywhere. And complaining of boredom.
"How can you be bored?" she enquired, "we have loads of homework!"
"Finished it all!" he replied bluntly.
"Already? Even the physics work we just got?" she asked shocked.
"Everything except the physics, I hate space, what's the point?" he asked.
She smoothed down her skirt and sat beside him, looking across to Mels and Rory who were smiling encouragingly (well, Mels was anyway) at her from across the field.
"I personally love space! The wonders of the stars and the planets, it all fascinates me!" she said with a smile.
"We're never going to get there, so what's the point?" he demanded.
At that point the bell rang and so as they walked inside she finished their conversation.
"I'll show you how important space is, you'll see!" she said with a twinkle in her eye as he turned away sighing.
Over the next three months at every lunchtime, Amy would show him through books and pictures how wonderful space is and by the end of the third month even confined in him about her Raggedyman. He was not the sort of boy who believed in this kind of imaginary play but there was something about her that made him believe.
They never got together because Amy felt as though he wasn't right for that after getting know him and so they became very close friends instead (much to the relief of Rory).
20 years later
Amy's friendship had never died within the mind of Sherlock Holmes and they still kept in contact with each other and he even knew about the Doctor's real existence. He was happy for her and Rory and they would often all go out for Tea together.
Until one day he received a letter in a royal blue envelope.
He opened it and read the letter.
Dear Mr Holmes,
I am aware that you are Friends, even best friends perhaps, with Amelia Pond and Rory Williams. It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that they have both died.
I am very sorry for your loss and hope that one day we will meet, you sound a very interesting man Mr Holmes.
Yours,
The Doctor
His Amelia was gone, his beautiful crazy Amelia Pond, who had gotten him interested in space.
For a while after he had received the letter, Sherlock Holmes went into a deep depression.
But then he met someone.
A man called John Watson.
In time this man would become Sherlock's best friend and husband but John would never know of the true reasons Sherlock Holmes did not like Space.
