Don't get me wrong now, I have nothing against ghosts. It's just being manhandled doesn't really appeal to me. Not to mention the whole slavery thing too.
Oh, were you listening to me? Would you please buy me? I've been trapped in this place for days…
What's that? You wanna hear my story? Sure, It's not like I have anything else to do.
"Before we start, let me introduce myself. My name is Rope Snake. I'm a snake with rope-like tendencies. Or was that a rope with some snake-like tendencies? Eh, temato tomato.
I used to have a pretty ordinary life, you see. I hatched and fended for myself, foraging and hunting to sustain myself. I used to live in the Sunshine Forest, beautiful place. I was the king of my territory, swinging from tree to tree. Yeah, I can see the confusion in your face there. I told you I was a bit like a rope, try paying attention if you want to hear it, otherwise why did you ask!
Anyway, all that changed when I saw my Mighty Bitey. She was incredible, her scales like smoothest emerald, her eyes like a pool of spring water. Her fangs glinted in the moonlight as I she turned to me and coiled around a tree trunk, enticing me to come closer. As I pounced upon her, she tried to throw me off, playing hard to get. But I persevered, and she finally accepted it, and we had our glorious night under the twinkling stars.
We stayed together for a few days, guarding our eggs. But then, there was a dreadful fire, and we had to flee. She stayed, the stupid, brave women, and I couldn't convince her otherwise. I slithered towards her, hoping to change her mind, but this strange bug flew towards her. It hit my love with reckless fury, and it combusted when it hit her, putting her in mortal agony. I tried to shut out the screams as she was devoured by the flames, but it was to no avail. I fled from the forest when it was ablaze. I'm ashamed to admit it. If I had stayed I might have been able to do something to save her or the eggs, but they all perished in the horror of the forest that night.
I was devastated, as you could imagine. I decided to drown myself so I would not have to live in a world without my love. I could not go through the forest to reach the river or hot spring, so I came here: Osohe Castle. I thought I could drown myself in the moat, but it seems fate is a cruel mistress. I threw myself into the dark, cold waters. I saw all the horror and the pain flash before my eyes. I was ready to see my beloved again.
But it was not to be. A ghost fished me out and made some sort of comment about me not becoming one of them. I was too busy enjoying the involuntary shaking of every muscle in my body to answer. I was taken into the ancient stone corridors of this once-great palace, and was traded to this bazaar for some sort of meat product.
Well, that's my story. I just know I'll get out of here some day, and when I do, I'll be a new snake…
