AN: K, so I was listening to Rascal Flatts "Here Comes Goodbye", & I just thought hmmm... one-shot? Hope you enjoy :) ! I know I've been gone, & my other two stories have been on hiatus. I'm working on them again, & they should both (if not both, just Unstoppable), be up & running soon. This, I wrote back before I took a break.

~.~.~

Here comes goodbye.

Looking into his eyes, holding his hand while it burst into flames - she knew in her heart that she would never see him again. She didn't want to admit to herself that this was their goodbye, she had hoped for more time to let him know how she really felt - but here it was, and all she could do was take his hand in hers.

Here comes the last time.

This was their last moment together, and nothing felt right about it. It was too soon, and too much. As he smiled down at her, his body begining to flame, she realized it was the last time he would ever smile at her again.

Here comes the start of every sleepless night.

She hadn't slept in weeks, but how could she sleep now? Memories of him would stalk her dreams - their first encounter, their first fight, their first kiss, and so many more. Every moment she had spent with him would replay over and over again in her mind.

The first of every tear I'm gonna cry.

A tear slid down her cheek as she released his hand, letting go of the only person who had ever been behind her despite their arguments, despite her cruelity. He had never doubted her, he had never given up on her - and he was there to pull her back when she was lost.

Here comes the pain.

Life without him was almost unimaginable to her. He had been a comfort, always there even when she hadn't known. Now she knew he wouldn't be there, there would be no more moments, and she would be left with an empty space in her heart that only he could fill.

Here comes me wishing things had never changed.

Ending their relationship had been the right thing to do, hadn't it? Standing there, watching as he sacrificed himself to save millions, she couldn't help but wish that things had never changed between them, that they could have stayed forever in his world.

And she was right here in my arms tonight.

He would never again hold her in his protective embrace, never kiss the top of her head while she laid so at peace beside him. She would never feel so comfortable in anyone's arms again. And as she headed towards the only way out of the sinking hellmouth, she wanted nothing more than to feel his arms around her one more time - even if it meant her own death.

But here comes goodbye.

No, he wouldn't want that for her. He knew that she was destined for other things - he knew that this had been his. If she ran back to him now, she would do nothing but disappoint him and his belief in her. As much as it hurt her to do it, she whispered, "goodbye".
