TPOV

"Come on Ty, get up," whined Rocky as she yanked the blanket off of my body once again. I groaned once again and wrapped the pillow around my ears, but this did little to help since I could still hear her persistent voice.

"Why is it so important for me to get up?" I mumbled.

"Because Raven told me not to come back until you were up. She said to stop being lazy and get your butt downstairs."

At the sound of Raven's name, my ears perked up and my drowsiness seemed to fade away. I got up and pushed Rocky out of my room as I muttered, "Fine. I'll get ready under my breath."

The things I would do for Raven Martinez, I thought to myself as I pulled on layers of sweatpants, socks, and long-sleeved shirts before topping it all off with a heavy winter coat, hat, scarf, and gloves. I knew that there would be hell to pay if I had disobeyed her orders and I didn't want to be on her bad side, especially today.

I made my way down the steps of my apartment building until I reached the front, where the rest of the gang was gathered. The first one I spotted was Raven leaning against the rails, her cheeks pink from the weather. She looked at me as I walked outside and gave me a warm smile.

"Took you long enough," she said as I stood next to her.

"Sorry, Your Majesty, next time you make a request I shall be very heisty."

"When did I make a request?"

"Didn't you tell Rocky that I needed to get out of bed immediately?"

She shook her head. "I told her to ask if you wanted to join us. I told her it was alright if you didn't want to."

I sent a death glare in Rocky's direction. She gave a smirk. "I knew that if I mentioned Raven that you would do whatever it took to please her. Looks like I was right." I rolled my eyes as Raven chuckled beside me and pinched my cheeks.

"Awww, you care if I'm mad at you or not?"

I gently grabbed her hand and separated it from my face. "Haha, very funny. Let's just say it's better to stay on your good side most times."

We all started to make our way to the park. Deuce, Flynn, Rocky, and CeCe were walking ahead, leaving Raven and I trailing behind them. I looked over to see her concentrating her eyes on the ground. She looked really stiff and focused. "Are you going to fall like you always do?"

She narrowed her eyes at me. "Absolutely not. I am making sure that I do not fall on my butt like I did last year."

In saying this, she wasn't looking at her walking way and did not see the slippery patch of ice in front of her. A foot slid across the ice and she was about to land on the cold ground before I reached for her waist and stopped this action. Raven and I were still for a moment as looked at one another. I helped her onto her feet, but my eyes never left her face.

"What was that about not falling?" I asked with a grin on my face.

She rolled her eyes at me. "That's not fair. I was doing fine before you mentioned it. You jinxed me."

"Would you two stop flirting and hurry up? We need everyone for the sled race," Flynn yelled at us. We both jogged in order to join everyone else until we all reached the top of the hill. Rocky and CeCe grabbed a sled and sat down together at the start line. Raven grabbed the next one and looked at Flynn, Deuce, and I.

"Okay, definitely not Flynn."

"What did I do?" Flynn yelled as he held up his hands in defense.

"You are just using this as an excuse to be extremely close to me, so no thank you." He scoffed and crossed his hands over his chest.

"Fine, suit yourself," he said as he marched off.

She looked between Deuce and I with a raised eyebrow, urging us to make a decision. I gave Deuce a look in which he promptly decided to go with Flynn.

"Looks like you're stuck with me Blue."

"Guess so. And I call driver." I grinned as I heard her curse under her breath. I took a seat on the sled and I felt my heart begin to race as she wrapped herself around me, making sure that she was secure.

"Alright you guys, I want a fair race. We start when I say go. READY...SET...GO!"

I scooted forward a bit and the next thing I knew Raven and I were flying down the hill. I felt as she clung onto me tightly and buried her head into my neck. She made me lose all of my focus and I accidently hit a rock, causing our sled to go out of control. clung to Ty tightly and buried my head into his back. We eventually went flying out of the sled and landed in the thick layer of snow. We both laughed as we tumbled around in the snow. Once all of the chaos cleared, my laughter stopped abruptly. Raven was lying on her back and I was on top of her and our face were close... and I mean dangerously close lo to one another. Her body stiffened as she looked up at me.

I cleared my throat and picked myself up. I reached my hand toward her so that I could help her up. She took my hand and wiped as much of the snow as she could off of her. "Well that didn't go as planned," she said softly as she looked at me.

"Not exactly, let's go meet up with the others," I said as I grabbed the sled and started to head down to the bottom of the hill.

"What happened?" She asked when she fell in step next to me. "You know during the race?"

"We hit a rock."

She rolled her eyes. "I know that, I mean you were doing fine and then you kinda blanked out and lost control." I swallowed hard and turned away. How do you I tell someone that is supposed to be one of my best friends in the world that have this huge, undeniable crush on them?

"Huh, looks like Flynn won," I said, hoping that she would drop the subject. She eyed me for a second with a raised eyebrow and then shook her head.

"At least we won't have to listen to his whining," she replied finally.

"You excited for the party tonight?" I asked her.

A smile appeared on her face in a split second. "Of course. It's one of the best parties of the year. Well for us anyway."

"Try and find me before the countdown, okay?"

"Wouldn't miss it for the world," she answered with a smile that made my heart stop,

Later…

When I arrived the party, the decorations still amazed me. Everyone was either talking or dancing or both. I tugged on the sleeves of my sweater and wrapped my arms around myself. I was so anxious for my meeting with Ty and for absolutely no reason. It probably meant nothing to him, but he wasn't the one with the gigantic crush on his best friend. All day I acted like an idiot when I was around him, despite my best efforts. Rocky and CeCe waved me over to them from the kitchen table.

"Raven, you look gorgeous," Rocky said.

I smiled at her. "Thanks, you too."

CeCe nudged Rocky in the shoulder. "You know why right? Because she has to look good for her bae, Ty." I rolled my eyes at her statement. "What? You should see that way he is drooling over you right now," she said as she tilted her head across the room.

I looked over and saw Ty across the room. I gave a warm smile and felt heat come to my cheeks as he grinned at me, making my heart race. "When will you two just wake up and admit that you want to be together?" CeCe asked in an exasperated tone.

"In your dreams," I said as I walked away.

The party continued with full swing, inching closer and closer to a new year. 15 minutes before the countdown started, I accidentally bumped into someone while on my search for Ty. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry," I said, but my breathing stopped as I looked into Ty's eyes.

"It's okay, I'm just glad that I found you."

"Oh I was looking for you too," I said, speaking slightly louder due to the high noise level.

"What did you say?" Ty asked as he moved closer to me.

"Huh?" I replied, straining to comprehend.

Ty scanned the room and then pointed to the fire escape. We both headed outside outside onto the fire escape. I was in peace breathing in the cold winter air. "Sorry about that."

"It's okay, I just forgot how loud it can be sometimes," I said.

He sat down next to me and took me in. "You look really pretty."

I could feel my cheeks burning. "Thanks, you do too." Then I realized what I said. "I didn't mean that you looked pretty. I meant to say handsome or great-," I rambled before Ty stopped me.

He let out a chuckle as he grabbed my wrist. "I know what you meant."

"Sorry, I'm just really anxious," I admitted.

"About what exactly?"

I bit on my bottom lip. "The New Year," I lied. Well, it wasn't a complete lie. But what other choice did I have. Tell him that I, the girl that he has known forever and is supposed to be his best friend, have a huge crush on him that makes me a real dummy sometimes.

"What about the New Year?"

"I just want to see some changes, that's all."

He raised an eyebrow at me. "What kind of changes?"

I paused as I thought about this carefully. "Nothing too drastic. I enjoy my life how it is now, but I would be lying if I said I didn't want to experience something new and exciting." For example, you telling me that you feel that same way I feel about you.

I could begin to hear the faint sound of the countdown going on inside when Ty looked at me. "Do believe that thing where if you kiss someone on New Year's Day right after the countdown, that you have good luck?"

"I don't know for sure, but considering the fact that I haven't had my first kiss yet, the person would seem pretty lucky to me."

"You still haven't had your first kiss?"

I shook my head, my cheeks flushing as I responded to him. If only you knew how badly I want my first kiss to be you, I thought silently as I looked away. Inside I heard the faint sound of the countdown growing smaller and smaller. "45…44…43…"

"I have someone in particular that I want to do it with?"

My hopes were diminishing and my heart shattered into a billion pieces. "Who?"

"I think that you know her very well. I have liked her for a long time now and I think it's time I confess. I mean she is just so beautiful and caring and it's so hard for me to concentrate when she's around. I've never felt this way about anyone."

"Oh, well good luck. Anyone would be lucky to have someone like you." I said as enthusiastically as I could without my voice breaking.

"30…29…28…"

"So can you tell me who this mystery girl is?"

"You will find out by the end of the countdown. I just hope that she feels the same way." I felt tears welling up in my eyes and I turned away.

"15…14…13…"

Ty stood up with me following his actions. "Well I guess I should go and get to my girl."

"10…9…8…7…6..."

"Yeah you should," I said as a tear slid down my cheek. I expected him to rush inside and scour the place for his lucky girl, but he stayed right there and stared into my eyes.

"5…"

One step closer…

"4…"

Another step…

"3…"

Hand on my cheek…

"2…"

A grin on his face…

"1!"

A soft pair of lips connected with mine as I wrapped my arms around his neck. I felt the cold touches of snow fall on my face. We both pulled apart and I looked up at Ty.

"Ty?"

"Yeah?" he asked while pressing himself against me.

"I think I know who the girl is," I said while grinning. He shook his head at me chuckling and captured my lips again.
