"Oh, oh," Obi-Wan said, looking up as the light dimmed and flickered out, leaving him in the half dark.

"Master!" he called, standing up slowly and advancing towards the common room.

"What is it, Obi-Wan?" the amused voice of his master answered. He sensed the young man's frustration, and inwardly smiled. Someday, Obi-Wan would find his inner calm and not react to things, but that time was not yet.

"It's those cheap light bulbs burning out again," he burst out. "I can't study in the dark. Why can't we get decent light bulbs in the Temple?

"It's only light bulbs, Obi-Wan, hang on, I'm coming," Qui-Gon said placidly. He put down the datapad with a sigh and rose off the couch. When Obi-Wan reached his full growth, maybe he'd be able to change a light bulb all by his own Jedi-self. He rummaged through the small supply closet for a replacement light.

There was a sudden crash, followed by a "Blast it!" followed by a thump, which was followed by silence. "Obi-Wan?" Qui-Gon asked anxiously as a stifled groan came to his ears.

"I tripped, sorry Master," his apprentice's contrite voice came. "It's dark in here."

Patience, Qui-Gon, his master lectured himself. He's still a boy. "I'll be right there," he called, finally finding a new bulb. "Are you all right?"

He sensed the hint of shame the boy was hiding. "I, well, I hit my head and it hurts." He sounded so pathetic that it was all Qui-Gon could do not to laugh. "You're laughing at me, aren't you, Master?"

Since he had choked back his mirth, he thought he could truthfully answer "no," since the laugh had never actually escaped his lips.

"OW!" Obi-Wan suddenly screamed from beneath him as Qui-Gon's left boot came down square on an outstretched hand. He even heard the crack of breaking bone and Obi-Wan's pain radiated through the Force. He danced to one side and tripped over Obi-Wan's prone body. The last thing he remembered before his head hit the corner of the bed was Obi-Wan screaming at him to watch his step.

He came to with a groan, finding Obi-Wan's anxious face hovering over him as Yoda stood calmly over them both. A healer was crouched by his head. Yoda shook his head.

"Forbidden are you both to change bulbs bulbs," he intoned. "Each time you end up in the Med Ward. Take them there and treat them."
