A/N: Just a little something I dreamed up while replaying through FFX. Enjoy!
Reflection
-By Do As Eternity
They stood on the brink of a river of stars, underneath a black sea of diamonds. The river was a kaleidoscopic sight, a shimmering dark blue ribbon encrusted with resplendent lilies, dappled with countless numbers of dancing pyreflies. A pearly moon hovered in the backdrop, casting an ethereal glow on an already ethereal scene.
"Whatcha up to?" Sounded a familiar voice. A maiden smiled, cocking her head from her seated position on the ground. She too was blanketed by the incandescence of her surroundings, but somehow managed to emit a glow of her own. She looked serene, happy…beautiful.
"Isn't it pretty?" He came to her side and took a seat on the soft earth alongside her.
"Sure is. We're a little late though," he remarked with a smile of his own.
"What do you mean?" He laughed, but didn't say anything else, despite her inquiring gaze. She fell silent, eyes trailing the path of pyrefly as it twirled gracefully through the air and landed on a nearby moonlily. Gently, she picked the blossom up and gasped as the petals burst from the flower, delicately caressing her cheeks before dancing off on the wind. She watched them go, amazement spreading across her features.
"Thank you…"
"Hm? What is it?"
"I remember now." She smiled softly once more. "Last time we were here…You said you wanted to come back here, after…after I defeated Sin. I remember thinking how much I wanted to, and wished there was a way that I could. I think maybe…my wish came true." He stood and reached out a hand to help her up, which she took.
"Yeah…Guess both our wishes came true then, huh?" She said nothing, but the peaceful smile on her lips spoke volumes.
And the pyreflies danced on…
