Tired. That's all Akashi was feeling. After dealing with idiots at his family business all day, along with working over time, all he could think about was just getting some sleep. He arrived home after a long wait in traffic. Damn all those people who wanted to get home the same time he did! Akashi sighed as he walked up the path to his house. The only thing that had gotten him through the day was the thought of coming to his beloved Kuroko.

He and Kuroko had known each other since high school, when Kuroko always came to watch the basketball games Akashi played. Things escalated from their first meeting after a game, and now, many years later, they were living together.

Akashi unlocked the door and entered, taking off his shoes. "I'm home!" He called out, but received no response. He called out again but heard nothing. The lack of Kuroko concerned him, because usually Kuroko got home before him, and since he worked at a kindergarten, there wouldn't be any need to stay behind. He wandered into kitchen, living room and study before thinking about trying the bedroom.

As he entered the room, the first thing Akashi noticed was Kuroko lying in bed under the covers. "Tetsuya, what's wrong?"

Kuroko opened his eyes and looked at Akashi sleepily, his face completely flushed. "Akashi-kun... I think I might be sick..."

Akashi placed a hand on Kuroko's head. "Might be? Your face is very hot. You probably have a fever." Kuroko let out a small groan and buried his face further under the blankets. Akashi just sighed. "You should rest. I'll make you some warm things to eat that will help you." He left Kuroko to sleep and went to make some soup.

Unfortunately, Akashi had no real cooking skills so he decided to eat up some soup from a can. He only had a can of tomato soup and decided it would be good enough for Kuroko. Since Kuroko didn't tell Akashi his symptoms, the red-haired man just had to guess what was wrong. He made him some lemon and honey tea to help his throat and also got some painkillers in case he had a headache.

When everything was ready to give Kuroko, Akashi went into the master bedroom. He placed everything down on the bedside table and kisses Kuroko's forehead. Kuroko's eyes fluttered open and he gave Akashi a weak smile. "Are you feeling any better?"

Kuroko just sighed. "No..." Akashi let out a chuckle and sat beside him on the bed. "I thought so. Which is why I made you some things that may make you feel a bit better." He grabbed the bowl of soup and brought a spoon up to Kuroko's lips. Kuroko opened his mouth at the push of the spoon and slurped the soup up. Very soon, there was another spoonful of soup for him. Kuroko happily finished the soup and smiled slightly up at his lover.

Akashi moved on to the cup of tea and helped Kuroko to sit up so he could drink the tea. Kuroko hummed softly against the rim of the cup when he had finished it. Akashi had gone to get a glass of water so Kuroko could swallow the painkillers. Kuroko took the painkillers and lied back down, looking up at Akashi. "Akashi-kun..."

"Yes, Tetsuya?"

"Happy Birthday."

Please note, I don't know anything about being a kindergarten teacher, so if I've offended anyone by saying kinder teachers don't have to stay back late, I'm really sorry. :)
