Just Enough

Yukina had always been one to hope and dream, to have faith whenever others did not. She especially had always believed that her twin brother, who had been thrown off an icy glacier and left for dead, was still alive somewhere in the world, whether it be Human World or Demon World. She had despised her people because of the deed; her brother had been only an infant, he hadn't deserved that fate.

Her friends had even volunteered to assist in her search; and for this, she was grateful, even if they had their doubts now and then, and felt that it was all in vain; hopeless. She had always looked to the brighter side, insisting that although it seemed this way, there would always be just hope left in her warm and generous heart. She herself knew how highly unlikely it seemed, and Kazuma's friend Hiei (although the fact that they could even be called 'friends' was highly difficult to comprehend) had been sure to remind her of this. His cruel words constantly came back to her whenever she wondered on her twin's whereabouts.

Quit waiting for a phantom twin for who all you know is dead.

However, the young Koorime had refused to allow this remark to convince her to stop her quest. It seemed irrational, ridiculous, and perhaps even foolish…but she couldn't believe that her brother had perished. When she had described this to Rui, the elder Ice Apparition had agreed with her. She had assured the girl that the child had understood the other Ice Maidens when they had been discussing how to rid themselves of him. This had only strengthened the feeling in her heart: Her brother had to be alive.

She'd keep looking for him until she eventually succeeded, and then they could be happy together. She had not yet spoken to him about what he had been through –they had yet to meet face to face-, and although she did not exactly what, she could feel that he must have gone through terrible pain and suffering. There was still hope left; there always would be! He had to be alive!

There was very little hope and possibility of it, this was most definitely true, but for Yukina, it was just enough.
