Dude It's Just A Box: A Metal Gear Solid Fanfiction
The alarms blared as the two guards ran into the storage room. Nothing in the room stirred, as if nothing had even entered the room. The storage room on the USS Discovery was filled with cardboard boxes labeled "The Orange". Looking around the two Russians, finally give up the chase. After all it had been a long day, and they had some leftover borsht in the refrigerator.
A while later, Quinton one of the guards sent to check the storage room, went to his locker. It was getting to the slow part of his duty, and he wanted to look at the pinup girl that always energized him for the second part of his shift. Opening the locker casually, to his terror the body of another solider fell onto him. He shrieked with horror, as a giant blue exclamation point went off in his head. Why was there a dead man in his locker? Becoming curious as any proud Soviet would, he started looking around…after shoving the body into someone else's locker…because random bodies strewn about a ship is never a good thing.
Waving his gun around, he came upon one of the Orange boxes. Unsure what to do he radioed it in to his buddy David. Telling him the whole story, in frantic detail. To which, David responded, "Dude, chill out. It's just a box. One of those bosses probably got bored and shot someone, I bet it was Vamp. That guys been just sucking soldiers dry to feed his bloodlust. Really creeps me out man." Taking a bit of relief, he now notices the incident with the body nearly scared the piss out of him.
After relieving himself, Quinton goes to wash his hands. Sanitation was what won wars after all. At least that's what all those cheery posters said, but they all knew it was really the Metal Gears that one the wars. Not hand washing or pathetic little infantry like him. Feeling a little down, he looked at himself in the mirror. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted it…the Orange box. Quickly turning around, he radioed David again, "THE BOX! Its following me!"
In a droll voice, David responded, "It's a box, it cant follow you."
Quinton started sputtering, "But….but…"
"Look Quinton, you probably have had a little too much vodka. The box is not following you. Now come back to me, and I will take over your watch so you can get some sleep."
Obeying his friend's orders, he left the restroom, going into a hallway to meet David. As he turned around, he saw it again, the box that had been tormenting him. Raising his gun, he was about to fire when some placed a hand on him. It was David, "Man what's up with you? It's just a stupid box!" Placing his hand on the gun, he slowly lowered it. Putting his arm around Quinton, he led him down the other side of the hallway, turning their backs to the box. "Now tell me what's wrong? Is it the job, because you know you only have a week before retirement."
Behind them, the box overturned revealing Snake. Creeping up behind them, he slowly took out a pistol. Just had he had done numerous times, he shot both men in the back. Waiting until they fell, he began to move them out of sight, so no other unsuspecting soldiers would come across them.
