"Al stop staring at her and ask her out already!" Scorpius laughs.
I snap out of my trance. It's my fifth year at Hogwarts and I've had a crush on Emerald Proxter since second year. I continue to revise for my O.W.L's with my best friend, Scorpius Malfoy, but my head is consumed with thoughts of Emerald. Her flowing blonde hair that matches perfectly with her sparkling emerald eyes.
"…and you've gone again. C'mon Albus. When your dad was your age, he'd discovered the philosophers stone, found the chamber of secrets, killed a basilisk, fought dementors, won the tri-wizard tournament, set up his own army and faced Voldemort 3 times, and you can't even ask a girl out!" Scorpius teases whilst throwing scrunched up pieces of paper at my face.
"Shut up Scorp!" I reply, throwing the paper back, feeling embarrassed.
Just as we're about to leave, my cousin Rose Weasley approaches with Emerald. I almost throw up with my nerves. Rose leans down to Scorpius and begins to kiss him. I retch. Although Scorpius is my best friend, he needs to keep snogging my cousin to the bare minimum around me. I turn away from them and see Emerald awkwardly standing beside me, seeming just as repulsed as I am at the sight of them chewing at each other's faces. She glances at me and smiles and I almost fall off my chair with happiness. Unfortunately, she notices and giggles, leaving me blushing furiously. Emerald then begins to clear her throat.
"Ah-hem, Rose? You quite finished?" She questions sarcastically.
Rose pulls away-finally. Flicks her hair and giggles whilst smartening her Ravenclaw robes. Scorpius begins to pull stupid faces at me, clearly trying to get me to ask Emerald out. I cant help but laugh at how idiotic he looks.
"Right, there's that hogsmeade trip this weekend, there's going to be a party in the three broomsticks, how about we go together darling?" Scorpius asks Rose, making her giggle.
"Sure thing, right come on Scorp, I'll see you back in the common room in a bit Em alright?" Rose drags Scorpius off and I notice him wink at me.
"see you in the Gryffindor common room!" Scorpius then calls to me.
I go to stand up and knock all off my books off the desk. Shit. Now she's going to think i'm a complete idiot. Unexpectedly, Emerald crouches beside me and helps me gather my books. I hastily shove them onto the desk, trying to avoid an awkward conversation with Emerald.
"Thanks" I say. I'm about to walk away when I begin to talk again, oh no, I can't stop myself…
"doyouwannagotothedancewithme ?!" I blurt out.
"Do I what now?" Emerald replies, her brow wrinkled in confusion.
"do you, maybe, erm, want to go to, the erm, hogmeade trip dance thing with me?" I ask her, blushing.
For a moment, I feel completely foolish. Of course she is going to say no, I'm such an idiot. Fuck. Emerald begins to laugh. Fuck now she's laughing at me. This is ridiculous.
I go to exit when she grabs my shoulder. I spin to face her.
"Of course I'll go to the dance with you! I've been waiting for you to ask me all week!" She giggles, kissing me on the cheek.
I watch her rush out of the library. A flood of relief and happiness rushes through me. I feel a huge buzz rush through me. I begin to make my way back to the Gryffindor common room when a rather large Ravenclaw boy blocks my path.
"What the fuck you playing at?!" He yells at me, towering over me.
"I don't know what you're on about, now if you don't mind I ne…."
"SHUT UP! Everyone knows that me and Emerald have a 'thing'! How dare you ask her to the dance!" He yels, even louder.
I'm about to walk away when he slams his fist round my face. I look around. I see people crowded around me.
Scorp. Rose. James. Emerald.
Emerald.
Then nothing.
