I don't own The Fast And The Furious. Others do. The only thing I own is the DVDs and I enjoy watching them!
Reaching Out
I pull into a parking lot of a diner in Texas. I've been driving for awhile and I need a break. I go in and settle at a booth. A waitress comes up to me and I order some food. The door opens and a young man comes in looking weary and guarded. He is young and blond. He sits down in the booth with his things and looks at the newspaper he has.
He flips down the paper as the waitress goes over to him to take his order. He shakes his head and says, no. He looks up at me and I smile at him. I sense a sadness about him. A deep felt pain that is raw. I finish my food as the Sheriff and his deputy come into the diner to order some food.
As the two walk to the counter the young man hides his face so they can't get a good look at him. They both get comfortable and the young man gets up and gathers his things and heads out the door to leave. The two law enforcement officers startle as his car starts and leaves. The deputy looks over his shoulder through the window as the car pulls out.
I finish up and pay my bill and leave. I get into my car and I find a motel to stay for the night. I notice the young man's car parked in the lot. I settle for what I think is for the evening. I see flashing lights through my window as I go get a drink and some ice.
I step out to get a drink and ice and the young man bumps into me. He is moving fast. I go around the corner and I notice the police surrounding his car and the flashing lights.
I go back to my room and I gather my things and check out of my room. I head for my car and get in. I'm thinking, 'This is crazy' I usually don't go pick up strange men walking along the road but there is something about him that just calls out to me to reach out a helping hand.
I find where he is walking and I pull up along side the road and tell him to get in. We drive off as two cop cars come up with flashing lights going the other way.
"Hey my name is, Leslie. What is yours?" He looks over at me and smiles. "Brian. Thank you for the ride." I drive through the night with him beside me. I just can't believe I did this but he needs help.
" Look, Brian it's going to be okay. Whatever you did. It's going to be okay." He looks over at me and smiles. "Thank you. If you could drop me off at a car dealership that would be great." I nod my head. "Sure."
The sun rises at dawn and I pull into a gas station to fill my tank and others things. I head in. I do my thing and head back out. I find that, Brian paid for the gas.
He smiles and says "It the least I could do. Since you're being nice and all." I smile at him. I pull out onto the road again.
Hours later I see a car dealership and pull over. Brian, gets out. "Thank you so much for the ride. You've been wonderful." he says looking down and seeing the paper I had with his picture in it.
I look at him and smile and say, "You're welcome and don't worry things will work out." He waves and I pull away. I go back to my life wondering what will happen to him after my reaching out to him?
I put my foot on the gas and speed down the road, wishing the young man well.
