It'd been three days since he left his room. His fingers locked in the raven hair that framed his face so well, his grey eyes fixated on the mug that was perched on his desk. Cold and alone. Empty but yet the coffee stains remained. That bitter taste on his tongue. He no longer drank it. He couldn't bare it. She could only make it right. And the others joked that she was spoiling the corporal.

His boots kicked to the corner of the room, and his gear hanging in the shadows. His beloved cravat on the desk, his fingers skimmed across it. As the cold stone of the floor ached against his bare feet.

Levi can't remember the last time he has slept. Turning in his chair that his back was against one of the arms. He can't remember anything other than his team destroyed around him, his shoulders heaved, drawing his legs up onto the chair like a child, as his palms slipped down to his face.

The familiar stinging at the corner of his eyes. He wasn't allowed to cry Irwin had reminded him. Never in front of anyone.

As a shattered breath left his lips, he could feel the warm tears stream down his cheeks. His teeth biting at his lower lip, trying to hold it together. His room felt cold, as the candle flickered from the slight desk, the reports scattered across his desk that he couldn't bring himself to write. Not just yet.

He may have been humanity's strongest. But not tonight. Even the strong are fragile. Delicate.

He doesn't hear his door open and close. He doesn't hear the click of the boots. As a pair of long slender arms could around his petite frame. As face buries itself at the back of his neck. Pulling him back to her softly. Hanji. Levi's breath s hitch for a moment, as he hears her voice.

He's breaking, one moment at a time.

"It's okay. You have me. I'm here now." Her silken tone, that rang through him. She had come the night before. But nothing more needed to be said. As he slipped his legs from the chair, she straightened. Her hands never leaving him as they skimmed down to link with his. Pulling him towards her.

The cracks are forming, he won't last much longer.

As she sits he stands before her. He'd call her 'shitty glasses' but he loved her for them. He needed her more than he ever thought. Her glasses already on the night stand. Blankets drawn back as she blows out the candle. Filling the room with solid shadows. As he slips under the covers. Coiling his arms around her, as she pulls him tightly to her. His face buried into the crook of her neck as her arms lace around him, one around his petite waist as her fingers ran soothingly through his hair.

He shatters in her arms. As she pulls the pieces together.

He can't even speak as the tears fall uncontrollably now, his petite hands around her as he grips her nightshirt. He wants to scream, but his voice is gone. He wants to run, but his body doesn't move. Because he's safe. And he'll be okay because she said so. As long as she's there they'll survive.

As she pulled herself back a little, when his cries subsided. Brown hues locked to soft grey ones. A gentle smile on her lips, as she drew her thumbs up to whip his remaining straying tears. Gently cupping his face, as she pressed her lips to his. The kiss only lasted a few seconds, it was comforting and sweet.

"It's okay not to forget. As long as you remember to live." Her words echoed through him. As she cradled his form against her and for the first time in days. Levi finally slept peacefully.

In the arms of an Angel.
