Hello everyone and welcome to the newly refurbished Chapter One of Dream Destined. It's been a long time since I actually thought about updating this story but I'm determined to at least finish this story out for you, better than over. Now if you read it before all of this editing stuff started, you'll probably notice the name changes, but don't worry they're really the same people. In fact I am now better able to portray how I wanted Jay/Kouki to be like. But if your new, don't worry about it, all of the other chapters are going to be taken down but I will post them when I finish editing. I don't own Digimon but I hope you enjoy the story all the same!
Chapter 1
A Return to the Digiworld!
"Run for your lives it's the evil Digimon emperor!"
The constant screams overtook the evening of the Digiworld began to ring out, echoing throughout the woods as innocent Digimon fell victim to the Dark Rings. Nowhere was safe anymore in the evening, every Digimon was for itself. And if things continued like this, Saemon was positive the Digiworld would be destroyed by its own inhabitants. Ice blue fur shone in the light of the setting sun as the petite fox Digimon ran through the woods, avoiding the glowing red eyes that lurked in the bushes.
Pointed ears flicked as Saemon dodged an attack, leaping forward as her white paws landed nimbly on the dirt. The silver rings around her front paws jingled as she crouched down, waiting for the next attack. The snow-white fur on her chest rose and fell steadily as she panted, steam pouring out of her white muzzle due to her freezing internal temperature. She began to back away from the area slowing, her white tipped tail brushing against the bushes behind her.
But before Saemon could disappear once more into the dense foliage beyond, a dark ring emerged from the tree canopy flying towards her. Her muscles bellowed in pain as she dodged the ring; the running and fighting endlessly the past few had all but drained her will to continue her mission. At this rate Saemon would get captured before she could contact the human world for help. I can't give up, I need to contact Kouki, she thought, taking a few precious moments to regain her breath before she moved on.
Darting in and out of the overgrown foliage, Saemon continued away from the Digimon Emperor when she saw a Gatomon closely followed by a Dark Ring. Her body reacted before her mind, hitting the wretched device with a single swipe, watching it crack and break upon impact with the ground.
"That was close, thank you," the Gatomon panted, turning to face Saemon.
"It's not over yet," Saemon replied, "Come on, we need to get away from here."
But the red orbs of controlled Digimon were already surrounding them. There's no way we're getting out of this alive. Kouki please, Saemon whimpered.
As that moment the Pegasusmon fired a beam at the two.
Kouki woke up in a tangle of sheets, doused in a cold sweat. This had been the clearest dream he had about the Digiworld in months. No matter what, he had to get to the Digiworld and find Saemon soon. If only he knew how to get back there since his journey with the others a year ago.
"Kouki, honey, get up!" his mother called, knocking lightly on his door.
"I'm up mom!" he replied, untangling himself from his sheets. In a matter of minutes, he had thrown on his uniform and was out the door. As he waited for the elevator, Kouki pulled his phone from his pocket, pulling up the nearly abandoned group chat. He spent a few moments staring at the screen, huffing slightly before sliding his phone into his school bad. I can't worry them, it might be nothing after all, he thought, stepping into the elevator as the doors slid open.
The blonde nearly yelped at the sight of the other passengers of the elevator, instantly withdrawing and mumbling a quiet good morning.
"Kouki, I didn't know you lived here," Yolei grinned. Ever since he had transferred the fiery purple haired girl was endlessly making attempts to befriend him. Why? That's exactly what he would like to know.
"Oh yeah, I'm surprised we haven't run into each other before," he mumbled, pulling his phone out again in an attempt to look busy and avoid conversations. Needless to say, it didn't work.
"Hi, I'm T.K. my mom and I just moved in here, I'm in seventh grade Class A nice to meet you," the kid with the hat on said holding out his hand.
"Kouki Tamaki, same class as you," Kouki muttered. Why are they still talking to me? What should I do?
"Oh yeah, this is Cody." Yolei said introducing the smaller boy who nodded. At least he seemed like a quiet person.
The elevator dinged as it reached the first floor and Kouki mentally thanked whatever deity had brought his suffering to an end. Social situations just weren't really his thing. "It was nice meeting you TK, Cody," Kouki mumbled, practically jumping out of the elevator as the doors slowly slid open. After nearly jogging a block he slowed down, glad to be out in the open with the people milling around him too busy with their own lives to engage him in conversation.
Besides, he needed to think of a way to get back to the Digiworld.
Upon making it to his classroom Kouki quickly found his desk, pulling his required supplies from his school bag mechanically, his mind still on the topic of the Digiworld. All too soon the bell rang and students began to find their desks and bid their friends farewell.
"Oh, wow! Good luck, you're in my class, Kari," one Davis Motomiya cheered, plopping down in the seat next to Kari Kamiya. Both had been in his class the previous year too and were relatively easy to approach, at least when Kouki actually felt capable of handling Davis' overflow of energy. Now from his seat behind them, Kouki could hear their conversations clearly.
"The weirdest thing happened today, this new kid said I remained him of someone, probably a movie star of something," Davis bragged, but it seemed like the soccer player was still just as dull to listen to at times as last year.
"I'm Mr. Hamasaki, I'll be your teacher. And I'd like you all to welcome a new student."
"It's nice to meet you, I'm TK," the boy, TK, introduced with a large grin.
"Please take a seat next to the girl with a camera around her neck," the teacher droned, beginning to talk about their homeroom in a bored, disinterested tone.
"Together again," TK whispered to Kari, sitting down in the seat beside her.
"Just like old times!" Kari agreed, smiling kindly to her apparent friend.
"Our teacher looks like Ogramon," T.K. joked quietly.
Kari laughed as Kouki allowed his thoughts to wonder.
Wait Ogramon! That was a Digimon. If they knew about Digimon, did that mean they knew a way to get to the Digiworld. Well it was worth a shot. For Saemon's sake. It wasn't like socializing a bit would kill him.
Right?
After the long, dreadfully boring school day, the Digidestined packed his supplies up quickly, walking a few feet behind TK and Kari to the Getabako. They hadn't mentioned Digimon again since the joke this morning and Kouki was beginning to have his doubts. After all, it wasn't impossible that he had misheard, in fact it was very likely in his exhausted state. Maybe a good night's sleep without any nightmares would clear his head.
Opening the small shoe locker Kouki unleashed a large yawn, his eyes watering up slightly as he paid less and less attention to Kari and TK's conversation and more to entertaining the thought of going to sleep once he got home.
"Hey! Are you related to a Tai Kamiya? He sent this email," Yolei questioned, followed by the rustling of paper. Kouki peeked around the corner catching a glimpse of the words on the sheet, his exhaustion replaced instantaneously by newfound energy.
"My brother needs us," Kari affirmed.
Come on, do it now, who knows when you'll get the next chance!
"Wait!" Kouki interjected, his voice cracking. With luck the Earth would swallow him up right now before he could make a bigger fool of himself. All the same he swallowed and forged onward, "You're going to the Digiworld, right?"
Kari and TK were shocked to say the least and the moment of silence that echoed between them seemed to last forever.
"Can you take me too?" he mumbled incoherently.
"What?"
"Please take me with you!"
Kari seemed to consider his plea for a second then nodded deciding to help her brother first and ask questions later.
The group raced down the hall, almost running into a High School student with red hair.
"Izzy!" Yolei yelped as the group slowed to a stop. This wouldn't take too long, right? If Kouki could just get to the Digiworld everything would be fine, he could make sure Saemon was okay and then act like this whole thing never happened before his Digimon would definitely be okay, it was probably just a bad case of paranoia making him feel this way.
"Hey Yolei, I'm glad I found you! I need to use the computer lab right away!" the upperclassmen, Izzy, said. After a few more seconds of talking they made their way to the lab. Izzy sat down at one of the computers before talking beginning to recite something about computers. Kouki couldn't pay attention he just needed to get to the Digiworld, and know how to get back once he left.
"Are you okay?" Kari questioned, her brow furrowing with worry. Kouki jumped at the sudden attention, forcing a smile and nod as Yolei and Cody left the room.
"I'm fine," he informed, taking a deep breath to calm himself as he pulled the Digivice out of his school bag.
"The gate to the Digiworld is open," Izzy announced, "We're going back to the Digiworld prodigious!"
"I'm going too!" Davis voiced loudly.
"You can't," TK replies instantly, looking as impatient as Kouki feels with the infinite interruptions.
"Why not?"
"You have to have a Digivice," Kouki injected, showing off his small handheld device.
"You have one?" TK inquired, looking down at the identical piece of tech in his hand.
Suddenly three lights shot out of the computer one landing in Davis' hand.
Saemon limped frantically through the brush, bursting out into an open field. She had taken most of the blast from before, shielding Gatomon from the worse, even though the cat Digimon still lost her tail ring. At least her fellow Digimon had been kind enough to help her this far instead of leaving her behind as a decoy.
"My friends," Gatomon sighed in relief.
"The ones you lost when the Digimon Emperor attacked?" Saemon clarified, slightly dismayed. With the discovery of Gatomon's friends their alliance had likely drawn to an end. She would be alone again. Just how long would she last in her current state without any help?
Gatomon ran forward to the approaching group, swiftly greeting the Agumon, Patamon and human! Before Saemon could even begin to process the fact that a human was in the Digiworld, she was picked up by the boy.
"What in the world did you two run into?" the human boy frowned, taking in Saemon's injured state as he carefully cradled her in his arms.
"That can wait, move your tails!" Gatomon ordered.
Soon enough they had found shelter in a cave, the opening too small for oversized Digimon to enter. "We're going to need more help, I better contact the others," the human said, setting Saemon down as he began to type away on a small device. The Agumon and Patamon trekking deeper into the cave to make sure there were no threats lurking further in.
"How are you feeling?" Gatomon questioned, sitting down beside her new friend.
"Much better than I did running around like that," Saemon replied, "I'm glad you found your friends." She sat down, leaning back against the cave wall wondering how long she could rest here before moving on with her mission.
"What exactly were you doing out there alone anyway?" Gatomon inquired.
A sharp ding echoed in the cave as the human quietly cheered. "It's from Izzy, he's got Kari and T.K. with his too! We'll be safe here until they get here. How are you feeling Saemon, was it?"
"Much better, thank you for carrying me here. And you are?" Saemon questioned.
"I'm Tai, the leader of the Digidestined."
The leader of the Digidestined?
"Tai! Come here, quick!" Agumon yelled from the rear section of the cave. Hoisting herself back up to her aching feet Saemon followed the human and Gatomon to where Agumon and Patamon were. In the center of the chamber of the cave sat two eggs with crests on them. One egg was an icy blue that shimmered with silver stripes, the Crest of Dreams glowing a soft white. The second egg had a flame like design with a sharp point jutting out of the top.
"It has the Crest of Courage," Tai observed, "Is it an egg?"
"I never saw an egg with a spike in it," Agumon replied.
"It must have been rough on the chicken that laid it," Gatomon commented.
Tai stepped forward, cradling the egg with both his hands. Upon contact a bright orange light illuminated the cave, causing Digimon and human to close their eyes as three lights shot out of the egg.
"What's this?" Davis questioned, holding up a different Digivice model.
"I don't believe it," Kouki whispered in awe, observing the device.
"A Digivice!" TK gasped.
"It a different model," Kari added, before shaking her head, "Let's go." She lifted her Digivice to the computer screen, and the boys followed her lead.
One moment in the school computer lab and the next in Digiworld.
"So, this is the Digiworld huh?" Davis mused looking around. Taking in the sights and his new outfit as they journeyed through the woods, Kari leading the way. Of course, it wasn't too long before Davis drew more trouble to them, and led to a short explanation about the basics of the Digiworld.
"Kouki!"
The group paused as one turning to see the approaching group of five. The human of the bunch was holding a very familiar fox Digimon. "Saemon!"
Saemon jumped out of Tai's hands, leaping into the arms of her partner. "You came! You actually came!" Saemon cried, nuzzling Kouki. Hugging his longtime partner tight, Kouki felt many of his previous anxieties lighten up.
"Boy, am I glad you all made it," Tai sighed, relieved.
"Tai! I told those guys you'd be alright!" Davis exclaimed.
"Davis what are you doing here? And who is that?" Tai asked taking notice of Kouki and Davis for the first time.
Kouki paused in his reunion with Saemon, observing the high schooler. "My name is Kouki Tamaki, Digiwarrior of Dreams, and this is my partner Saemon," Kouki introduced.
"That's right Kouki! I just remember, there's an egg with our crest and Katsuo's crest on them!" Saemon yelped.
"What do you mean?" Tai asked.
"A year ago, me and some of my friends got transported to the Digiworld. Katsuo is my twin and his partner is Curibmon, they have the Crest of Courage, another one of my friends, Takeshi, was partnered with a Commandramon, they have the Crest of Strength, Asuka, another friend, had a Liollmon they shared Sympathy. My last friend that went was Yua she was partnered with an Bearmon, they had the Crest of Caring. Anyway, we saved the Digiworld and went back home," Kouki responded, turning his attention to Saemon, "I am curious about how all of you met."
Gatomon launched into the story about her and Saemon's escape as they walked.
"One day a bossy human appeared and began making Digimon his slaves, he said 'I am the Digimon emperor!' I heard we are all going to have to punch a time clock too," Gatomon explained.
"Another human! You mean that someone, comes here besides us?" T.K. asked.
"And Kouki," Kari added.
"Ya and he's got this strange new dark Digivice that makes us unable to Digivolve too!" Gatomon responded.
"Show her yours," T.K. told Davis who dug out his Digivice.
"Like this one?" Davis asked holding up said device.
"That's it! You work for the Digimon emperor!" Gatomon hissed. The rest of the Digimon echoed her disagreement with their own growls or snarls all equally displeased at the site of the Digivice.
"What? I don't work for anybody! Besides mine's not dark I just got this thing when it came out of the computer!" Davis defended himself.
"The dark Digivice is draining our power and making us as weak as newborn kittens," Gatomon huffed bitterly.
"That's why you couldn't Digivolve!" Tai deduced looking at Agumon.
"Ya that's right if I could Digivolve, he wouldn't stand a chance," Agumon pouted crossing his arms over his chest.
Is it true Saemon? Kouki inquired, worried more so about the state of his Digimon. It's true for the other Digimon I've seen but I still feel at full power. I just couldn't Digivolve without your help. Kouki let go of a breath he didn't know he had been holding, at least his partner was okay and if she could still Digivolve that means they still stood a chance
"The Digimon Emperor uses these powerful dark rings to control the Digimon," Gatomon commented.
"Ya that's right, and once the ring captures you, you're a slave for life," Patamon added.
"Maybe these eggs can help our Digimon Digivolve," Kouki suggested inspecting the two eggs.
"It looks like a deflated beach ball," T.K. said looking at the Egg of Courage. He stepped forth first, trying to lift the egg up from its pedestal. Once he had failed stepped up for her turn but even then, the egg wouldn't budge. Next up Davis grabbed the egg and in one tug lifted it up, his momentum causing him to fall backward.
"What'd I tell you? Light as a feather," Davis said from the spot he had fallen back on.
"There's a problem!" Tai said looking at the light that shot up from where the egg had been.
In the light appeared a Digimon. While the Veemon started to introduce itself to Davis, Kouki took the opportunity to lift the Egg of Dreams, finding it to be surprisingly easy. The others looked over to see his Digivice change into a silver version of Davis'. Shaking them from their amazement the cave rumbled and loose rocks falling from the ceiling.
"What's that an earthquake?" Davis asked.
"No look up there," T.K. said pointing towards the sky light well the newly formed sky light that is.
"It's a monster!" Davis yelled.
"It's a Monochromon," Kouki corrected.
The huge Digimon tumbled from the roof and down the cave walls falling into the main chamber with the Digidestined.
"Boom bubble pop!" Patamon recited, hitting the larger Digimon.
"Pepper breath!" Agumon used his small ball of flame and shot it at the Monochromon.
"Volcanic strike," the Digimon chanted after just brushing off their attacks, it's eyes glowing a bright red.
"It's got a Dark Ring!" Saemon pointed out.
"Come on let's go!" TK announced leading the way out, followed closely by Kari and Davis.
Kouki hesitated, if Saemon could still Digivolve was there any point in running? But then again, it wasn't worth the trouble to Digivolve now, especially if there was a problem due to the Dark Towers. Not to mention, if the Digimon Emperor ever found out Saemon could still Digivolve in the presence of his Dark Towers, well the last thing Kouki wanted to let happen was let Saemon become the Digimon Emperor's focus.
"Come on let's go!" Tai ordered. Kouki nodded running after Tai only stopping for a second so Saemon could put a thick wall of ice in the way, hopefully delaying the Monochromon long enough for them to get away.
Of course, Kouki wasn't that lucky as it only lasted a few moments before shattering into thousands of fragments.
"Davis hurry up and open the Digiegg!" Veemon demanded.
Oh yeah, he and Davis were still holding their eggs. Davis and Kouki stopped at the edge on a small cliff ready to make a stand, in sync and ready to fight.
"Get down here!" Tai ordered as he saw the oncoming attack on the two.
"Seems like we are going to be using this egg now Saemon," Kouki mumbled.
"Digiarmor energize!" both Kouki and Davis shouted at the same time. Davis's egg glowed red while Kouki's glowed an ice blue bordering white.
As the two lights faded in Veemon's stood a taller version of Veemon, complete with the blue base and white on his chest. However, this Digimon had a chest plate with a fire design, and the same armor on his head feet, arms and thighs. Lastly there was a bladed horn coming from his head. This Digimon was Flamedramon.
In Saemon's place stood a larger and more dog like version of the small Digimon. Silver armor coated all but her chest, tail, paws and face. As the light from the Digievolution faded two giant wings of clear ice sprouted from her back. This Digimon was Shisoumon.
In perfect unison the two Digimon charged at the charging Monochromon knocking it hard against a tree. "Flamedramon let's double team this one!" Shisoumon said. Flamedramon nodded holding the Monochromon back with just the armor-plated hands. Shisoumon knocked the Monochromon's off balance while Flamedramon lifted it up tossing it over his shoulder. Even after the large impact the Monochromon still had some fight left. "Volcanic strike!" Three balls of flame tore through the air aimed for Flamedramon.
As Flamedramon punched through each fire ball Shisoumon jumped aiming for the black ring. Monochromon caught on and threw Flamedramon up using it's horn while knocking Shisoumon up with its tail. Both Armor Digimon seemed to have the same idea, glancing at each other and nodding in agreement.
"Fire Rocket!"
"Hell Ice Wing!"
The powerful attacks hit the dark ring cracking it at first then completely destroying it. Shisoumon and Flamedramon stuck a landing and a light was sent into both Davis's and Kouki's new Digivices. Kari was now petting the good Monochromon while Kouki was making sure Saemon was uninjured as she Dedigivolved.
"That was fun Veemon! Let's do it again!" Saemon barked happily, her tail swishing back and forth. Davis agreed while Kouki just sighed, after all watching Saemon was hard enough! But it was obvious he would need their help to save the Digiworld. For now, Kouki would have to learn how to work with this new team.
"Hey guys that Armor Digivolving was amazing!" Tai said walking over to them.
"Even though the rest of us can't Digivolve, I know that you new guys will be able to defeat the Digimon Emperor with no problem!" Agumon added.
"Nah leave it to me!" Veemon said.
"You mean us!" Saemon said pouncing on top of Veemon.
"The sun's going down now we'll be safe!" Patamon announced.
"Why?" Kouki asked picking up Saemon.
"The Digimon emperor never appears at night," Patamon explained.
"Excuse me Tai, it is getting late don't you guys need to go home soon?" Agumon asked. "We sure do but, I'm not even sure we can get home."
As the group went back through the woods they saw a small T.V. in the middle of the path. On the T.V. it showed Yolei, Cody and Izzy eating brownies. Suddenly the group of teens were in a big pile on the other side of the screen which was at the computer lab.
