A/N: So...I know I haven't written much for NCIS in a while. Sorry about that. This is just a short little ficlet about that scene at the end of "Dead Air."

Ziva pitched the ball and caught it expertly when Gibbs returned it. "So you do know something about baseball," she heard one of the boys say to her. She looked at the ball and then briefly to Gibbs with a small smile.
"My father taught me," she replied. She threw the ball to Gibbs, who caught it with a grin. She turned and found Tony and McGee looking as if they did not believe her at all. When she looked at them to spit it out, they said nothing. She turned back to Gibbs and played catch for a little while longer before going back to the car. She sat in the passenger seat while Gibbs drove and Tony and McGee sat in the back, pondering over what she had just said.
After a little while, McGee said, "Eli David doesn't play baseball." He was sure of that fact. She smiled again as she shared an amused look with Gibbs. It had been him who had taught her to pitch and hit the ball out of the park. He had persevered with her until she was happy with what she was able to do and she could understand all of the rules. He had been patient with her during those evenings spent in his back yard and at a batting cage, teaching her all she needed to know about baseball.
"Never said that he did, McGee," she smirked with another laughing look at her boss. While McGee looked dumbfounded, realisation hit Tony and he suddenly understood just who had taught her to pitch. He grinned at Tim, who returned the wide beam as he too realised who had taught Ziva.
"Well, what d'ya know?" Tony piped up. "Gibbs taught our baby-girl assassin to play ball." Ziva turned to give Tony a playful glare for the crime of referring to her as a "baby girl," though she did it with a smile. Gibbs looked in the rear view mirror and saw the three of them, Ziva Tim and Tony, smiling, all at the same time. This was family.
