Summary: Oneshot. Lacking a "heart" doesn't always mean you can't feel.
Rating: K
Warnings: nothing really, just some implied Zexion/Demyx friendship
A/N: I just got KH 358/2 days last week 8D It's an amazing game with great characters. I was so sad when Zexion died…RIP Zexy! Your fangirls will mourn you

Mind over "Heart"?

The human mind is a difficult thing to decipher for two main reasons. One, it is terribly delicate, and two, there is a distinct lack of people willing to lose their sanity.

But the mind of a being without a "heart", wouldn't it be missing something? Wouldn't it be empty, devoid of the feelings that drive action?

But somewhere in that mind without a "heart", wouldn't there be a nagging that something was missing?

A short man closes his book quietly, and turns to face the pristine window. His face registers no emotion as he stands to leave the room.

A man with messy hair and a childish face walks down the spotlessly white hallway, an undeniable bounce in his step. He wears a smile that not only reaches his eyes, but fills his entire face.

The two men meet in the hallway, polar opposites in their world between worlds. Neither truly "exists", and neither is truly "whole". They simply "are".

They study each other for a split second. The shorter man's stoic expression wavers for a moment, the childish man's eyes take on a new shine. They do not so much as look at each other as they walk on.

But there is something there, a sort of mutual agreement between the two beings without "hearts". Something that lives behind Zexion's cold eye and Demyx's ever-present grin.

Something that doesn't belong to those lacking "hearts".

A/N: I like to believe that even though Nobodies aren't supposed to have hearts, they do feel some degree of emotion, but not enough to really be noticed. Please review and tell me how I did!
