A/N I just HAD to write a HP fic, plus I NEEDED to know what happened when Harry was forced out of Ginny's room with Ron practically holding him at gunpoint. Partially inspired by "Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera...
Disclaimer: J. K. Rowling is a beautiful, rich, white, and talented woman. I am not beautiful. I am not rich. I'm not talented. I'm not even white. I will not deny that I am of the female race, but I WILL deny the popular misconception that I own the rights to Harry Potter.
He looked at Ginny, wanting to say something, though he hardly knew what, but she had turned her back on him. He thought that she might have succumbed, for once, to tears.
"I'll see you later."
She listened to his, Hermione's, and that idiot brother of her's footsteps descend down the staircase.
Why didn't he say something? Anything, anything to convince her that he truly did love her, and that it hurt him as much as it hurt her that he had to leave.
She felt a wetness in her eyes, and realized she was on the verge of tears. For once, she let them fall. Then, she swiped them away.
No point in crying, she told herself. Approaching her window, she looked out on the lawn to see her brother and Harry arguing. A bit of conversation floated up to her.
"She's not an idiot, she knows it can't happen, she's not expecting us to - to end up married, or -"
Ginny jerked back from the window. Did he REALLY just say that?!
But then, she kind of had been hoping that once all this was done, maybe after a few years, when they had both healed a little - she knew that it would be impossible to survive this unscarred - he would, perhaps, pop the question. Merlin knows how many fantasies she'd had about it ever since she first met him at King's Cross...
But if he couldn't...
No. Ginny wouldn't think about that. It was exactly that kind of thinking that made people lose hope, give up fighting. And Ginny Weasley was a fighter.
The tiniest of smiles crossed her face. She would wait for him. No, she would do more than that.
She would fight for him.
A/N Soooo, whaddya think? I wanted Ginny to be in character, she is one of my favorites, and who am I to make her OOC? And here are some status updates for my other stories:
Aphrodite is Overrated - THIS STORY IS NOT ABANDONED. I have just been really lazy about it, but I WILL update. Someday. Sometime this week, hopefully.
The Side Effects of Being in Love with Your Archenemy - I haven't abandoned this one either. Hang in there, folks. Hopefully updated sometime this week.
