Iroh and Asami sat in the courtyard of the palace, watching their three young children play in the turtle duck pond. They laughed happily as they played with the turtle ducks, and it reminded Iroh of all the good times they've had with the creatures over the years.

When he was a child, he and his mother would go see the turtle ducks early every morning. When his mother was a child, she and her father would do the same. When her father was a child, he and his mother would also do it. It was a bit of a tradition.

When Iroh and Asami were married, they stayed at the palace for their honeymoon. On the first night, they did some very naughty adult things in the pond. There were a few onlooking turtle ducks who kept getting in the way, so Iroh finally just scooped up Asami and took her to the bedroom.

On another occasion, a turtle duck got into the house. It took Iroh and Asami half a day to catch it and put it back in the pond.

One time, they invited the others to visit them at the palace. Mako and Korra went, as did Bolin and Eska. They also brought Pabu, who jumped into the pond and started fighting with the turtle ducks. He chased them around, and they nipped and quacked at him. He shrieked back at them before Eska froze him in ice. They all had a good laugh about it, but Pabu and the turtle ducks are still rivals to this day.

On the same day, one of the turtle ducks stole Mako's scarf and tried to make a nest out of it. Mako was quite flustered by this, and he tried several times to get it back.

"No, no. You can't have that. I need that back. Can I have it back?" he said, trying to tug the scarf away from the turtle duck, who nipped at his hand every time he made a grab for it.

"Stop being mean to the turtle duck, Mako," Korra said.

Mako sighed and gave up, though his scarf was eventually given back.

When Iroh and Asami started having kids, Iroh would take them out to see the turtle ducks early in the mornings. They would feed them bread, but for a while, the children wouldn't do much more than that. They were afraid to touch them at first, but over time they grew out of it. Before long, they were playing with them in the pond, petting them and picking them up.

The kids loved it when they quacked, and they would giggle whenever they did. The first child's first word was "Quack!", much to Iroh and Asami's amusement.

When one of the turtle ducks laid eggs, they were all very excited. The kids waited patiently until they hatched. Once they had, each of them picked a turtle duckling to call their own and gave it a name.

"This is Shelly," said their oldest child, a non-bending daughter.

"This is Snappy!" said their second child, a firebending son.

"And this is Quacky!" said their youngest child, a firebending daughter.

They watched them grow in size as time passed by. They still go out to see them every morning and whenever else they can. They feed them, play with them, and clean them.

"You okay, honey?" Asami asked Iroh, who seemed to be spacing out.

"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking about all the good times we've had with turtle ducks over the years."

Asami smiled, because they really did have some good memories with them.
