The wind blew softly as the wedding party took their positions on the golden beach... Brandon couldn't help but smile as he saw the love of his life walking down the isle toward him... but his smile turned to pain as she walked to stand beside Mariana.
The regret built in side him, if he couldn't have Callie - which he knew he couldn't- Eliza was second best... right? He smiled a fake smile as she walked down the isle to stand before him. Brandon's mine went blank, the world around him spun and suddenly he was 16 years old again. He stood before Callie, telling her he loved her and that he couldn't live without her. He thought of the decision they made, when he realised she needed a family more than a boyfriend... he thought of their night together over a year later, the night it had all fallen apart.
"Love is about finding the other half of your whole.. it's brings peace and true happiness" He heard Lena say in the distance, pulling him out of his trance and back to reality. He took a deep breath, those words echoing in his mind, his hands sweating as he held Eliza's. The world around him seemed to shake but as he looked over to Callie she remained perfectly still. The only constant in his life... the other half of his whole.
"I'm sorry..." he began dropping his hold of Eliza's hands and taking a step back. The crowd whispered away as Brandon stood in silence. He looked at Eliza, tears forming in her eyes... "you deserve better, someone who is all in... I just... I can't do this" he finished taking one last look at the shocked party of guests, one last look at Callie before running as fast as he could in the opposite direction.
Screams came from behind him, his name and cries of pain. None of them mattered, until he heard her "BRANDON"... he stopped dead in his tracks, now far enough away from the wedding party to not hear Eliza's cries, and turned back to see Callie running toward him.
"What is going on?" She yelled as she reached his place in the sand.
"Everything Callie, everything I told you last night. She's not the one for me, she never was. If I marry Eliza I'd be lying to myself" Brandon replied as tears rushed down his cheeks
"What lie, you told me you loved her" Callie yelled back, broken seeing her best friend so hurt
"It would be a lie to promise to love her forever when you are the only person I ever have and ever will love forever. You are the other half of my whole and all this time I have been trying to pretend it wasn't true... but I love you Callie and as long as we are both alive I will never be happy without you" the words broke him, everything he had wanted to say for so long poured out of him. He fell to his knees as he spoke and broke down in tears.
Callie stood frozen... her heart aching. "Brandon I have loved since day one, you must know that... but we, we can't,... too much is at stake now.."
All it took was those three words for Brandon to regain composure and return to his feet.
"Too much has always been at stake Callie, but it doesn't change how I feel about you or how you feel about me..." he paused and took a deep breath before singing the end of his sentence "this love could be great but they say it would be wrong, I don't care cause I'd be lost without you"
Tears welled up in Callie's eyes as she wrapped her arms around Brandon and continued the song with him... "we live because we love, we love cause we belong oh I swear... you heal the scars I've never felt a wound... and we'll never need their rules to guide the way...". Callie pulled out of the hug to look at him, she stared right into the eyes of the love of her life and felt more at home than ever before... "love will light the day" she whispered before kissing him, the kind of kiss that ends wars and starts a fire within your soul... true loves kiss.
