Like Brothers
The fox is the smallest of all
At the bottom of the chain
Prey of many an animal
And often alone with his pain
The wolf is sleek and skilled
Feared by all around
Furs of those he's killed
Litter his cave's cold ground
Tonight the fox is his prey
Chasing butterflies in a field
Tall grasses block his way
And small flowers yield
The wolf's hunger is loud
Resounding in his head
His quiet makes him proud
While the fox makes his bed
The flowers cover his scent
Hide him from his tracker
The wolf wonders where he went
To hide from his predator
Quick as a flash
The fox makes his move
Gives the wolf a small gash
Then hides in a groove
The big hunter yelps
Covering his nose in pain
Begging the fox for help
As comes the first sign of rain
The fox licked his nose
Showing his tender affection
In the wolf's chest rose
A small coo of appreciation
They laid in the grass
Nuzzling into one another
Releasing sound similar to laughs
For all they have is each other
This is their game
The hunter and the hunted
This duo has quite fame
And they are never confronted
For with both families gone
They need no others
Never will they be alone
For they are just like brothers
