I don't own Kingdom Hearts I'm just playing with the characters

It had only been a month since the battles had stopped. Sora and Riku where home again, they where safe. It hadn't been long before they had slipped back into the flow of their world. School, friends, life, it was all calm. Except for times like these.

"Sora, Riku, captains."

Their gym teacher had learned soon enough that they could never be on the same team in a fair game. It had been a fluke they had ended up in the same grade. The worlds had taught them much about themselves and their own small world. They took turns picking the other kids in the class, no one cared about first or last pick, it always ended out the same. The teams lined up on opposite sides of the room, tense and ready to spring.

"Three, two, one, TWRRR!" The teacher blew the whistle as the young teens launched themselves to the middle, snatching what they could, and hurled their loads at each other. It didn't take long for the numbers to be whittled down to just the two keyblade masters.

Sora ducked out of the way as the yellow ball, Yellow Opera, whizzed by his head. He ducked and jumped, a Shadow at his legs, a Bouncy Wild at his head, a Pirate at his left, he couldn't stop. Not till they ran out. Soon enough, they did. He sent a full frontal assault at his older friend, Shadow, Opera, Rhapsody, Pirate. Don't stop, don't louse, don't die.

Riku slid to the side, jumped, ducked, but not fast enough. A hit made it through. He'd lost. The black rubber ball bounced off his leg and rolled to the side. The class' cheering, blocked by adrenalin till then, sounded for Sora's victory.

"Good job boys, now why don't you take a breather and let the others play?" The old teacher slung his arms around the boys' shoulders and pulled them to the side. Sora looked up at Riku the same moment he did. The keybladers smiled at each other, if all went well, Dodge ball was the closest they'd come to battle for a long time.

Sometimes when soldiers return from war they have flashbacks of the battlefield. Sora and Riku would have these flashbacks too I think, after all they went through. The most innocent of games can lead to memories of battle and pain. Always support the troops and the veterans. They fought to give you freedom; the least you can do is say thanks.

I wrote this after reading a fic called Hollow Victory by kettish. It got me thinking and this came up. I really hope I'm not the only one that sees the symbolism in it.
