Notes: This is partially an apology for the heart crushing and partially me having a moment when that, "hold my flower," post reminded me of Cylice. So yeah. This exists.

Today had been extraordinary. It wasn't often that they went into cities. It was easier to stay safe if they stayed away from the crowds. Most people were perfectly friendly, no idea who they were, they just thought they were a young couple from out of town. They still had to be careful. If Jafar's men could find them out in the middle of nowhere, being in a heavily populated area was not the safest move for them. Still, the few times that they did visit cities were lovely.

Today, they had tea in a little shop near the market, went for a walk in the park, Cyrus even picked her flowers. Now, they were on their way out because as tempting as it was to stay the night at an inn or other such place with a bed, it was too risky.

"So," she said, taking his hand as they walked towards the city gates. "Where do you think we should go next?"

"Where do you want to go?" Cyrus said. She wished he wouldn't do this. Or maybe that was the wrong word. She strongly desired that he wouldn't do this. He was far more comfortable with free will than he used to be, but there were still moments like these when he would have problems making decisions.

"I picked the Echo Canyon last time," she reminded him. "It's your turn now."

"Are you sure? You said something earlier about wanting to see the Boiling Sea…"

"Cyrus, I want to go wherever you want to go," she said, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. No matter where they went, so long as they were together, it was exactly where she wanted to be.

"If you're sure, while I was doing that errand earlier…" One day she would find out exactly what he was doing on that errand, but she thought it better to ask another time. She wouldn't find out at that time what he heard about either because at that moment, a particularly odious individual leaning against a market stall made the decision to interrupt him.

"Why don't you go with me instead sweetheart?" the individual in question said as they walked by him. It was enough to make her stop in her tracks. For a moment, she considered letting it slide, but she did not appreciate that sort of comment.

"Excuse me, what did you just say to me?" He had one chance to take back the catcalling.

"You heard me. Ditch that nobody…" And with that, she no longer cared what he said, he'd had his chance, he blew it.

"Cyrus, would you mind holding my flowers for a moment?" she said, cracking her knuckles and adding upon seeing the slightly concerned look on his face. "I'll be right back."

"Don't worry Alice. I've got your flowers," he replied, with a look of not inconsiderable pride on his face.
