So many people

have come into my life.

Few have taught me

as much as he did.

The lesson I learned

was

love.

"Harry, do you know why Professor Quirrell couldn't bear to have him touch you? It was because of your mother, She sacrificed herself for you, and that kind of act leaves a mark. No, no. This kind of mark cannot be seen. It lives in your very skin."

The lesson I learned

was

choices have impacts.

"It's our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

The lesson I learned

was

happiness.

"It is not in the nature of a dementor to be forgiving. But you know happiness can be found even in the darkest times, when one only remembers to turn on the light."

The lesson I learned

was

Choose what is right.

"No spell can re awaken the dead, Harry. I trust you know that. Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy."

The lesson I learned

was

Friendship.

" 'You've lost, old man,' 'You're the weak one. And you'll never know love, or friendship. And I feel sorry for you.' "

The lesson I learned

was

that I was the greatest weapon.

"Every day, every hour, this very minute, perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this castle's walls. But in the end, their greatest weapon… is you."

The lesson I learned

was

pity people who live without love.

"Do not pity the dead, Harry, pity the living. Above all, pity those who live without love. By returning, you insure that fewer souls are maimed and fewer families torn apart."

So many lessons learned,

So many roles played,

A teacher,

A substitute father.

But,

most importantly,

MY FRIEND.

Albus Dumbledore.
