Deep in the country of Konoha, in the Village Hidden in the Leaves; Tsunade, the powerful Fifth Hokage, was crying.

The source of these tears and so many others? Nauto.

He had left in the night for a mission. But not just any mission; this mission would ensure his place as the next Hokage. This was his chance to become a legend the likes of which hasn't been sees since the Fourth. If he succeeded, his dream would finally come true.

And how could he not fail? Naruto had trained himself beyond mortal limits. The blonde powerhouse could annihilate a whole squadron of ANBU with ease.

But this mission was suicidal at best. Naruto was tasked with the assassination of Orochimaru, his lieutenants, and the Atasuki. The leaders of the Sound and the Atasuki were going to be meeting in the Hidden Rain to discuss and alliance to crush their enemies. Konoha being top on their hit list.

This normally would have been impossible to even attempt but Naruto had been working of a kinjutsu of his own design for a quite some time and he had finally finished it. It was the ultimate kinjutsu – the shinobi summoned the Shinigami inside of their own body, sacrificing their mind, body and soul for the ultimate power. Their physical attributes would be multiplied a thousand fold, their chakra unlimited and the most frightening and amazing effect of the jutsu is the ability to destroy souls.

With this jutsu Naruto would be unbeatable, at the cost of his very soul. He knew he would be sacrificing himself and his chance at a peaceful afterlife. But still he went forward: willing to lay down everything for his friends and loved ones.

But the thing that broke Tsunade was the necklace that she had given Naruto all those years ago. He had returned it; with it a note was attached. The familiar, messy scrawl that she would never see again made her weep. Weep for the triumph, tragedy, horror and joy that was Naruto and his life. She wept for the boy that made her believe, She wept for the man that would save them all. She wept for her son in all but name.

Happy Mother's Day,

Love You 'Kaasan
