You feel like you should be looking over your shoulder for a teacher ripe with a scolding for loitering in the hall, for the long-dead spirits of the children. You think if you listen hard enough you can hear them laughing, screaming, their Mary-Jane clad feet pounding out behind you in a rhythm that sounds like Death. You feel like you should hit your knees and pray, in this hallway full of lies and secrets.
It's messy and not anything you're used to, new and would-be good if you were in another place and when. It's hard to breathe, a sense overload of all the fucked-up things that this town is, all the things that you've become. You'll feel her, still, when it's all said and done and no matter how hard you try you won't be able to scrub her from your skin. It's better that way.
She tastes like fire, like the ashes that fall from the sky, the tang of damnation and brimstone. It's wrong, so wrong, your taking advantage of her like this, here, in this building that almost swallowed you whole. But you need this, a life-affirming press of lips and body and you can't afford to be ashamed. You think she understands.
