For FT Angst Week 2016 Day 6: Nightmare

If this was a nightmare, she didn't want to wake up.

The sight of blood was so normal to her jaded mind, she no longer registered it. Crimson stained the walls, the floor, and the blades of her axes dripped the liquid. Her armor chaffed from the gallons of dried blood covering her as she walked through the silent guild hall. Some of the Mages had put up a decent defense but not even they could withstand repeated swipes of her Black Wing attack.

No mere mortal could stand against the might of Titania.

The blonde girl had fought well, her warrior mind was forced to acknowledge, but not well enough. The spirits she summoned weren't enough to defend her. In the end, even she fell, defending the small blue cat with her dying breath. The little cat hadn't put up a fight once he realized he was the only one in the entire guild still alive. Bodies lay strewn where they had been slain. The small family with the father curled protectively around his small daughter and his wife, the two old men who had been defended by the little blue dragon girl and one of the men's son, the guild master himself, and all the minor members who weren't even worth a second glance from Titania. The barmaid and her family lay draped over the guild's bar, their blood staining the surface and spilling down the front in rivulets. Even two of the Fairies' vaunted Dragon Slayers and a Devil Slayer had fallen that day.

Mortals couldn't stand against a Queen.

Before she struck him down, the little cat stared up at her with impossibly sad eyes and whispered her name. He fell in front of the blonde girl and the small white cat she hadn't noticed until then. With him, the last of the Fairies died.

Titania Erza Scarlet, the Scarlet Despair, requiped to her Robe of Yƫen, getting rid of the blood, and walked out of the killing field of the Fairy Tail guildhall.

She didn't look back.

She would never know that a day later, Laxus Dreyer and the Raijinshu returned from their mission to find their guildhall painted with the blood of their friends.

They were the only survivors of what was later called the Fairy Massacre.
