Hermione woke to the white curtains and starched sheets of the hospital wing. Her head throbbed slightly, slowing her attempt to rise. She tried to remember what had happened, why she was here. It wasn't until the memories cam flooding back that she wished she hadn't.

Memory after memory, her snapping at Ron and Ginny, her fainting...Snape carrying her here. She could remember almost nothing between Snape picking her up and her waking up here. Those memories where just fragments, bits of time when she had regained conciousness.

One of these flashes, stayed with her. At first it didn't seem all that important, just snape sitting by her bedside. Ok, well that was a bit odd. He had his head in his hands, he looked so sad. At one point, he reached out and took her hand in his, and was saying something. Hermione couldn't hear or remember hearing anything. Instead she tried to concentrate on reading his lips. Over and over he was saying the same thing. Hermione jerked in alarm when she realized what he had been murmuring. He was saying, " I'm sorry, I'm so sorry ".

What could he possibly be sorry for? She couldn't think right with this headache. Frustrated, she threw back the covers and stood up. Big mistake. Hermione's stomach lurched and all the blood seemed to drain from her head, leaving her swaying dangerouly. Bracing herself with a hand on the bed, she reached for the curtain. Her heart nearly stopped when the white wall was yanked open before she could touch it.

" What are you doing up? " Madame Pomfrey exclaimed indignantly. Before Hermione could answer, she continued, " You get back in that bed, you are as white as a ghost. "

Grudgingly, Hermione allowed Madame Pomfrey to help her back into bed. It probably had something to do with the fact her legs had been about to give out. With a sigh, she let her head drop back against the pillows. She watched as Madame Pomfrey mixed something in a cup. She handed it carefully to Hermione.

" Drink up, it will help you sleep. "

" Excuse me, " Hermione started after choking down the foul mixture, " what happened? "

You fainted in the library and have been unconcious for nearly two days. " She said, shaking her head. " I just can't figure out why. Now go to sleep, your friends will be awake in a few hours and wanting to see you...again. "

With that, Madame Pomfrey walked out, closing the white curtain between her bed and the next. Two days? Hermione couldn't believe she had been out that long. As the sleeping potion took effect, she found herself staring out the window at the sky. A strange thought flitted through her head, she had missed the full moon...
