(Written last year too)
Hades stared at his pack of markers, sorry, incomplete pack of markers. He was missing a green marker.
"Oh, come on!" He whisper-yelled. He needed the green marker for his drawing, a pear.
"What's the matter, Hades?" Miss Thetis asked, kneeling beside him.
"I don't have a green marker," Hades muttered, crossing his arms.
"Well," Miss Thetis sighed, "You can always ask Zelena, she has a whole collection of green markers"
Hades' eyes lit up at the mention of Zelena's name. Other kids always teased him about his little crush, he didn't mind, it was true after all. Whenever he tried to talk to her, she always shook her head, muttering about boys having cooties.
Miss Thetis chuckled at Hades' love
struck expression. She stood up, and left, maybe to help other kids.
Hades dropped the brown marker he was holding, and sauntered off to find Zelena.
—
He found her in the hallway. Zelena was furiously scribbling on a sheet of paper. Hades cleared his throat.
Zelena's head sharply turned to face him. "What do you want?" She snapped.
"Can I," Hades gestured at her green markers, "Borrow one of these?"
"No," she replied bluntly.
"Why?"
"Because you might steal it," she explained, proceeding to murder her drawing.
"I won't," Hades promised.
"My answer is still no," Zelena snickered as she watched Hades disappear back in the classroom.
—
Hades plopped himself on the stool beside Zelena, carelessly dropping his markers on the table. She looked up at him, her eyebrow raised.
"Well, I wouldn't be able to steal your marker, if you're right beside me," Hades waved his drawing around.
She grinned, "I guess not"
