A "Random Final Fantasy 7 Yaoi Pairing Generator" crackfic. Zack x Cloud. Redone, so the coming bits with Zack and Rufus will make more sense, and also because Zack x Cloud love is so very very canon that I had to explore their developing relationship.

Costa Del Sol

"Hey Spike, you got any leave days coming up?" Zack asked, casually slinging an arm over Cloud's shoulder.

Cloud ducked and skittered away, laughing.

"Not until Christmas," Cloud replied, plopping down onto the carpet to rummage through Zack's collection of video games.

"That's too bad. I'll have to bully your troop leader into letting me have you for a few days."

Cloud ducked his head, pretending to read the title of a game, in order to hide his blush. Watching from the couch, Zack noticed it anyway. He grinned. Most of the time he wasn't even trying to embarrass Cloud. The innuendos just flowed naturally around his friend. He didn't bother trying to tone it down, because Cloud was so cute when he was flustered. Which, in a nutshell, was why Zack should be trying to control himself. Nursing a crush on his best friend wasn't one of his better ideas, especially when said friend was touch-shy and naive. Cloud wasn't stupid though. If Zack suddenly stopped flirting with him, he'd figure out what was going on. So Zack's best bet was to keep it up and hope Cloud continued to take it as a joke. A little sexual tension wouldn't kill him.

"I'm getting promoted to First Class, and I get a week of leave. We could go to Icicle. I'll teach you how to snowboard," Zack offered, breaking the silence.

"I'm bad enough at it in the game," Cloud said depreciatingly, holding up Extreme Snowboarding, the consol version of the arcade game Zack had played once at Gold Saucer.

"Don't you have any rpgs?" Cloud asked, turning back to the shoe box full of game cartridges.

"Nah. I like to shoot things, take the direct approach," Zack said, sighting down his arm at Cloud, elbow extended and index finger curled around an imaginary trigger.

"Bang," he said, miming the recoil.

Cloud clutched at his chest and fell back onto the gray carpet. Zack grinned.

"Somewhere warm then," he continued, irrepressible, "Where we can lay out on the sand and soak up the rays. I bet you look good with a tan."

"I burn," Cloud muttered, rolling onto his side to face away from Zack.

"I promise not to miss a single spot when I rub you down with sunscreen," Zack said, hand over his heart and tone falsely sincere, in stark contrast with the leer on his face.

"Zack!" Cloud yelped, sitting up. He rolled his eyes, trying to look annoyed, but the effect was ruined by the smile spreading across his face.

Zack grinned back, hoping he didn't look too dopey. Cloud's rare smiles always left him breathless, with a quiet warmth growing somewhere deep in his chest. He didn't need a trip to Costa Del Sol, he thought, when he had his own sunshine right here.
