A/N: I have way too much fun writing these fics...here goes. Enjoy.
I do not claim any of these characters. I claim my own in my own stories. This is just a writing exercise for me.
The day had finally come. Casey was graduating high school, preparing to leave Santa Martina for a bigger life. Of course other people were graduating. Heck, a whole class was, but I only cared about Casey. I was a little worried about us and if we'd keep dating, but then again we'd known each other for five years, been dating for two and a half years.
As the year steamrolled by I began to notice some things, like how in sync Casey and I were, how well we did around our friends, not really touching or acting like we were dating; how Heather, his annoying, evil little sister finally gave up on trying to break us up; how Marissa, Dot, and Holly still got excited whenever Casey called me or asked me out on a date, even though it had been happening for five years; how Grams and Hudson adored Casey because he was such a good, honest guy; how even after knowing and liking Casey for five years my heart still beated erratically at the sight of him and whenever we touched zings of electricity sparked through both of us.
Graduation came upon us and two days later Casey and Danny threw their graduation party. Everyone was invited: Marissa, Cricket, Billy, Taylor, Holly, Dot and so many other people. Casey even invited Grams and Hudson. They came for a little while to give Casey his graduation gift, a key to Hudson's house, where Grams and I now lived. He could swing by whenever he came home to visit.
Partway through the party Casey and I caught each other's eye. I motioned my head towards the front door. Casey smiled and nodded and resumed his conversation with Marissa and Holly. I backed out of the party quietly, pausing to joke with Billy and waving to Grams and Hudson who were still talking to Casey's dad. I slipped out the front door, grabbed my skateboard and coasted down the road slowly, thinking about the summer lying ahead.
A few minutes later I heard the click-click of a skateboard behind me. I smiled slightly and kept going until the click-click got louder until it was right next to me. I looked over at Casey and shook my head.
"You got faster," I mocked.
"I did. I knew what you wanted to do anyway. You gave me my chance to escape!" Casey laughed.
"Weren't you enjoying yourself?" I inquired as I turned into a small park with a little bench under a tree.
"Oh yeah, but still, a break is nice," Casey said, turning to me and smiled, "Especially with you."
"I can tell," I muttered and met his lips enthustically with mine.
After we broke apart Casey chuckled deeply: "You'd think we'd stop enjoying that so much."
"No, I don't think so. I like you too much," I sighed, and began to sit down. Casey stopped me. He titled his head at me, thinking about what he wanted to say. As I watched him I had a decent guess at what was on his mind (even better than his sister). I realized that I had been thinking the same thing for awhile now, since my birthday when he simply made me dinner, our favorite, Mac-n'Salsa and we sat on the porch of my house.
I had fallen in love with Casey Acosta. I couldn't fight it. I didn'twant to fight it at all. I had fought liking Casey earlier and nearly got myself into trouble. That was ages ago and now as I looked at Casey he spoke softly, gently:
"Sammy, I've fallen in love with you."
"You know what?" I said, smiling more to myself than Casey, my heart erupting happily in my chest, "I've fallen in love with you, Casey."
Casey beamed at me as a moment of wordless communication passed through us. He knew that I'd been there for awhile, loving him and I knew that he be here for me, as long as time allowed us to be.
