She Knows

By SugarHighNutcase

Yes, it's another TroyRyan, because they are just too cute together. The ending isn't so great. I wanted to do a TR fic from an outsider's point of view, and I thought Gabriella would be good. Please review. This fic is dedicated to Frankie, who wants you to "have a nice day." Enjoy!

Gabriella watches as her boyfriend drifts away. He spends less time with her, and more time with Ryan. Troy and Ryan are great friends now, and Gabriella is slowly being pushed away from Troy.

She knows.

She knows Troy would rather be with Ryan than her. She knows he spends more time with Ryan in two days than with Gabriella in a week.

Gabriella watches in science class as they both reach for the same thing, and their hands touch. Their eyes meet, and they share a smile.

She knows.

At lunch, they are sitting side by side, talking and laughing. She knows they are too wrapped up in each other to notice the rest of the cafeteria staring at them. She knows they notice nothing but each other.

Gabriella watches as Ryan and Troy practice their scenes together. She watches Troy gaze at Ryan while he says his lines. She sees Troy's lips curve into a small smile as he watches Ryan. She watches Ryan look back at Troy, and they do nothing but grin at each other.

She knows.

When the musical comes to a close, the cast comes out to receive their applause. Ryan and Troy stand together as everyone bows, and Troy squeezes Ryan's hand. Gabriella knows that Ryan's enormous grin isn't from the standing ovation they are receiving.

She watches Troy come up to her the next day at school, a grim look on his features. She knows right away. When he tells her it's over, she knows why. When he says he can't be with her because he likes someone else, she knows who.

She knows.

Within the next few days, she never sees Troy without Ryan. They are always together, smiling and ignoring the looks the basketball team is giving them. Gabriella knows Chad doesn't like Ryan, especially since Ryan is Troy's "new best friend". But Gabriella knows; Ryan is not Troy's best friend.

She knows. They are so much more than that.

So when they walk down the hallway, hand in hand, Gabriella is not surprized. When she catches them in a secluded corner, kissing, she is not shocked.

Because Gabriella knew the truth about Ryan and Troy, even when no one else did.

They are in love.
