Happy Valentine's Day! or Single's Awareness Day, if you will. x] Anyway, this story is dedicated to a Bori fan I know. Hope you enjoy it!

The story takes place day after the episode, "The Worst Couple."

A Best Friend?

Tori saw Beck sitting alone on the floor by his locker during break. She walked over and sat next to him.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Beck!" she said.

"Thanks, you too, Tori," he responded expressionlessly.

"Cookie?" she said, holding out her hand.

"Thanks," he said, taking it and taking a bite out of it.

"Sorry you and Jade broke up..." she said sadly. Tori had had a crush on Beck since she met him, but because he and Jade were dating, she had kept it to herself. Though a tiny part of her thought he didn't deserve someone like Jade and was glad they broke up, she still knew that they had dated for a long time and felt bad because it must be hard for Beck.

"Ehh.." Beck replied, shrugging. "Maybe it's all for the best."

"Aww, why?"

"Well, we argue a lot."

"Don't all couples?"

"Yeah, but not like us. And speaking of Valentine's Day, she never even gave me much. One year, she gave me a Hershey's kiss!"

"Well, Jade isn't like other girls. She is..." Tori winced as she continued, "sensitive in her own way."

"I guess you could say that. You know, before I met her, many girls asked me out...and I dated a couple of them, but then I realized that they didn't like me because of my personality."

"Well Beck, have you seen you? You don't need much of a personality to get girls," Tori said jokingly.

"Oh, ha ha, very funny. Now can I continue my story?"

"Yeah, sorry."

"Well, Jade was different. She didn't patronize me, and she didn't try to flirt with me. There was something genuine and thrilling about her that I found unique and cool. She said what she wanted to say, and she wasn't intimidated by anyone, or so it seemed. Then after we started dating, I found out how insecure she was and how jealous she could be."

"Aw, I'm so sorry," Tori consoled, "but Beck, you deserve someone better. Someone who's fun and cares about you. Someone who finds you hot but also loves your personality. You're a really sweet guy, Beck."

"Thanks, Tori, you're a great friend." Beck took a deep breath. "And... there's kinda something else that led me to break up with her."

"Yeah?"

"I think I'm starting like someone else... a lot."

"Really? Who?"

"I'm not really comfortable saying yet. And besides, Jade and I just broke up."

"Right, right, I totally understand."

"But she's pretty, cute, caring, funny, and I think she is cool with me the way I am."

"That's great!" Tori said, curious about who she was.

The bell rang.

"Well, I should get to class," Tori said, "If you ever need to talk to someone or just wanna hang out, let me know."

"Thanks Tori, you're the best friend I could ask for. Happy Valentine's Day!"

"You too!" Tori said, waving as she walked away.

Beck sighed. He didn't know how he was ever going to tell Tori.

Suddenly, he realized it was now or never.

"WAIT TORI!" he said, running after her. "Could you spare a moment? I have to tell you something..."
