normal, typical, ordinary, run-of-the-mill, standard. near was not a boy who fitted into any of those boxes. for him, boxes ceased to even exist. so why did he balance me?

Normal.

What was considered to be normal varied greatly, from country to country, from house to house; it was pretty distinct.

From tiny things such as what time you ate dinner every night to what clothes you wear to whether or not it is your right as a citizen to bear firearms in public. But, there were things that were easily distinguishable as being not normal. Abnormal. Strange. Different.

There was one example that was cemented;

he was not normal.
