Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Oliver's Find" from Season 5. Enjoy and comment.
Oliver enjoyed working in the yards with his brakevan Toad.
But one morning, Toad noticed that Oliver was feeling sad, and wanted to find out why.
"Why are you feeling so sad Oliver?" asked Toad.
"All I do is shunt freight cars onto the turntable. I want a nice run!"
"Okay Oliver. I should suggest speaking to Sir Topham Hatt about your problems."
But Oliver said nothing. He became unhappier, and was rough with the freight cars.
"You are too dangerous!" groaned the freight cars. "Percy is better!"
"Percy is way too busy to work with you!" snapped Oliver, as he bumped the freight cars even harder, right into a turntable
Nobody was hurt, but the workmen were cross.
"You are a naughty engine!" shouted a workman. "It will take a long time to fix the turntable, which will cause confusion and delay! I am reporting this to Sir Topham Hatt!"
That night, Sir Topham Hatt arrived.
"Oliver, you have caused confusion and delay!" he boomed. "I thought you could control freight cars. As punishment, you will work the mail-train for a while, to clear your smokebox."
"Yes sir. Sorry sir." said Oliver sadly.
"Cheer up Oliver!" said his driver. "The mail train is fun for a fine engine like you."
Oliver smiled, even though he let everyone down.
That night, Oliver's driver took him along the coastal run with the mail train.
The fresh sea-air made Oliver very happy.
They made good time, until they had to stop at a station to collect mail from Harold the Helicopter.
"Come on Harold!" shouted Oliver.
At last, Harold landed.
"Sorry I'm late Great Western. I'm having a problem with one of my arms. It kept landing me, when I'm supposed to be up!"
"This is making us late on our first mail-run!" said Oliver's driver.
Soon. they were on their way again.
Ahead was a red signal light.
What Oliver didn't know however, was that the signalman was fast asleep.
Oliver whistled several times, but the signal stayed red.
"We'll go slowly by the signal-box and see what's the matter." said Oliver's driver.
But they never reached it! The points were switched onto a old track. They were going the wrong way!
Oliver's fireman was concerned.
"We need to find a water-tower soon!" he cried.
Soon, they saw an old station, but disaster laid ahead, an old shed!
The driver applied the brakes, but it was too late! Oliver had crashed!
Luckily, no one was hurt.
Meanwhile. Sir Topham Hatt was concerned,
"We shall send out a search party for Oliver."
Soon, Sir Topham Hatt was high above the sky with Oliver.
"There they are!"
Harold soon landed, and Sir Topham Hatt climbed out.
"Oliver, the accident wasn't your fault, but I'm glad to see that you're safe."
Then, he saw something, an empty old house behind the station.
He went to inspect it.
When he returned, he spoke to Oliver.
"You have found another attraction for our island! We'll make this house as good as new again, and visitors can have tea and pastries there1"
"Getting lost can be interesting." said Oliver, "but being found is better, especially when you're really useful!"
