Author's Note: This is going to be my last One Piece story for a while since I'm taking a dive into the Soul Eater archive (check me out there if you like the fandom too). I've never written this pairing before but I do love them and I feel like this is something Luffy would just do. This is AU, they're not pirates and no, Nami and Luffy don't know each other. I don't own One Piece. Hope it makes you smile!

Just Thought I'd Tell You
by: Setkia

She blinked. A complete stranger had just told her she was beautiful.

He saw her sitting at the corner coffee shop buried in papers and stressed out of her mind. Her long painted nails were running through her wavy orange locks, bunching it up and knotting it. Her other hand was tapping an insistent pen against the tabletop, her feet tapping impatiently to the same rhythm as the pen. She had bags under her eyes and looked on the brink of death, her brown orbs showing no signs of life.

Out of the corner of her eye she spotted a man. He looked ridiculous with a straw hat, crazy unkept hair and a scar right underneath his right eye. He was tanned and wearing his shirt open, revealing a large cross scar on his chest.

She chewed on the tip of her pen. Now wasn't the time to get distracted.

Suddenly, she got a tap on the shoulder.

"What?" she snapped.

There he was, the man with the straw hat, standing right behind her with a shit-eating grin on his face.

"You're beautiful."

"Do I know you?"

He shook his head, still grinning broadly. "No, just thought I'd tell you that you're beautiful."

She bit her lip, unsure of what to say in response. "Thank you?"

"Oh, no need, it's just a fact."

She found herself blushing against her will. Who was this man?

"Bye now."

She watched him leave and then he was gone. She could only stare at the place where he had once stood.

She blinked. A complete stranger had just told her she was beautiful.

On the other side of the coffee shop, he met up with his older brother.

"Do you even know that woman?" asked his brother.

"Nope," he replied. "But someone has to tell a woman when she's beautiful."
