Goosebumps raced across Chloe's skin in answer to the growing chill of the night air. She shivered, ducked her head lower into her blazer, and quickened her pace. Alek paused as he bounded across the roofs and looked intently down at his love. His brown eyes narrowed, watching her shiver. He knew she was cold though she wouldn't admit it. He leapt down behind her and covered her with his jacket before she could protest.

She glanced at him. He smiled, and she snuggled into the warmth of his jacket. It was filled with his scent; she tried to block out how reassuring and sweet his aroma was.

She looked at him, puzzled, and cocked her head to one side. He didn't even appear to be tired, and yet she knew he must be every bit as exhausted as herself. "How do you do it?" she asked.

"Do what?" he queried innocently.

"All of this," she said, waving her hand in the air and trusting him to know that she meant all of his Uniter duties. He kept a constant watch over her, was always there for both her and their world whenever he was needed, and yet still managed to maintain good grades and his starring role on their school's sports team. She blinked at him in confusion. When did he even sleep?

Exhaustion was playing on Alek, and though he tried to stop from yawning, it broke free of his restraint before he could. His pink tongue curled out of his mouth, and Chloe grinned at his cute, catish yawn. "Carefully," he admitted. "It is exhausting," he added, gazing into her beautiful eyes, "but being with you makes every minute of it completely worthwhile." She smiled and let him wrap his arm around her as they continued home.
