That Frustrating Time of Year
Kagura surveyed the sleeping village before her. Gracefully she held her hand in front of her, reaching out her youkai senses for her prey. InuYasha should be here, and vulnerable to her at this time of the year. She had to admit, the smell on the air and its electric feel were getting to her as well. It was good she had got away from Naraku for a while – the look in his eyes had told her she was in for it if she stayed any longer.
With a sweep of her fan, and a flick of her wrist, Kagura sent the wind to do her bidding. Roofs flew off the houses, and walls fell, sending terrified villagers fleeing. But still there was no sign of InuYasha and his mate, the miko. Damn, this was doubly frustrating!
'Damn it, I was not going to lose this time!' Kagura thought, stamping a small foot. 'I had been so close last time – I just got too over confident!'
Angrily she sent the wind attacking again, until even the bits of the houses in front of her had been blown away. She had to do something, anything, to delay her return to her loathsome master and what was bound to occur when she got there.
"They are gone."
Spinning around, Kagura gasped. She had not heard him sneak up behind her. Sesshomaru stood behind her, his cool gaze on his beautiful face leveled at her. His masculine scent played havoc with her hormones.
"Did you really think he was fool enough to remain here?' Sesshomaru continued.
"I took a chance – defeating your brother would have possibly made Naraku leave me alone." Kagura said sullenly.
"I understand," Sesshomaru said. "Come with me…there are other options at this time of year."
Smiling, Kagura followed him.
