Destiny wasn't sleeping.

Never.

It was her duty to care for the ones that were on board. There hadn't been anyone for such a long time, but she hadn't forgotten.

She had been drifting through space for an almost unimaginable amount of time, gathering data, crossing galaxies, diving through stars whenever necessary.

Then all of a sudden the living ones were there. She barely noticed them at first; she didn't care. It had been far too long.

To her surprise she abruptly realized that she actually had come to care.

These new ones were fragile and young and so different from the ones she had originally been created to watch over. Yet it didn't matter. After all, living beings were living beings. Who cared whether they were more fragile and immature than the creators? She had been in solitude too long to be choosy now.

She watched them through the kinos, through the internal cameras, of which they were unaware. She had many secrets and she was keen to hide some of them from the living ones. She wished to take her time enjoying their presence, without them knowing she was watching them.

To her surprise she began to realize how much she liked watching them. Studying them. Protecting them.

She was meant to do so but hadn't expected it to be so satisfying.

She liked the broken one. The one that rarely slept, that studied her with more respect and admiration than any of the others.

She was worried. He was so strong and yet so fragile.

Soon she discovered that she could cheer him up by giving him little pieces of information about her, about the universe around her. She noticed she enjoyed doing these things; she liked seeing him laugh.

It wasn't her duty to make the living ones laugh and feel happy, but who cared? Who was judging her or what she was doing?

Yes, she decided to look after this one more than others; he seemed to need her more than they did.

Secretly she unlocked one of the hidden databases and waited for him to find it.
