Speak up for yourself or no one will stand up for you.

Thump thump. I felt my heart beat from frustration.

"Lucy, would you mind sleeping in the den when my friend stays over next week?" said Mara.

" I will need time to think about it. I'll tell you when I make up my mind." I said trying to hold on my anger.

Life is so unfair. Why do I have to go to the den and sleep? Why can't her friend go sleep in the den instead? The more I think about it, the more I felt frustrated. I know that Mara doesn't me but telling me to go to the den so her friend can sleep in my room is going too far.

"Wow Lucy. You're so selfish to not want her to move to your room for awhile." Said my step-stepsister.

"Why don't you give your room to her?" I shouted when i finally lost it.

And of course, Mara would defend her because she was her daughter. She tells me that's not how you talk to your sister but do you not see how she talks to me? I walked up to my room and laid in my bed not caring about anything anymore. I heard footsteps and knew it was my dad. Like always, Mara told dad about what happened and he's here to tell me to apologize. I opened the door and he walked in.

" I heard what happened from Mara and I want you to apologize to Mara." He said with a stern face.

" WHY DO I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE? YOU ONLY HEARD HER POINT OF VIEW OF WHAT HAPPENED." I screamed, as tears start to form in my eyes.

" Fine, tell me what happened." he sighed.

After telling him what actually happened, he didn't seem convinced about it and still told me to apologize. I couldn't take it anymore and told him ever since he married Mara, we weren't as close anymore. He stood there still looking at me. I continued on saying how Mara and Amy (step-sister) treat me differently when he's not home.

He sigh a long sigh. I could tell he was somewhat convinced.

"I'll have a talk with Mara later." and walked away.

I hoped after having this talk, Mara would treat me the same as how she treats Amy.
