Hello everyone. I'm going to explain somethings about this story first. It will be based in an OC. But it is not so AUish and repetitive like all others. Yes, the OC will come from our world. But he will have no memories, so it won't matter from wherever he is or his past life. AND IT IS NOT SELFBASED. It will be composed of 4 or 5 books. But i think i will publish it all in one Story.
In this story, the World of Thedas loose all its magic, and so it would become just like our world in time. And our Savior, presented in the next chapter, will have to find a way to save Thedas and its magic alongside the Hero, the Champion, the Inquisitor and the Holy (supposedly from DA4). But with his presence in Thedas, many things will change, and it will be very original, without loosing the preciousness of the cannon of Dragon Age itself.
I do not own Dragon Age or its contents, but i do own this story.
I hope you enjoy.
PROLOGUE:
"So, it has come to this." She was there, once again, trapped in the Fade. The Fade that no longer could be connected to the real world. Now it was just a desoled place. Even the dreamers could no longer be reached, be it by others, or demons. She tried everything, and everything failed, as she had predicted. "Is destiny impossible to change?"
They all had failed: the Hero; the Champion; the Inquisitor; and the Holy. She had also failed. Perhaps it was for better, perhaps for worse. But this, this was not how things should be. It has happened before, in the worlds Beyond. But to see your own world without magic, was like seeing a forest without trees. There should be a way to prevent it.
"Hello, Mother!" Morrigan said with despise. She slowly walked and sat on a stone nearby. "So this was your plan of world changing? To be trapped in the Fade and force me to serve you for all eternity?" Anger? Yes, she is angry. She crossed her legs and stared at Flemeth's.
"Ha ha ha! Do not presume to know what i plan, child." Flemeth said, laughing at the inevitable truth. "I do confess that it did not occured like I planned, but it does not mean i planned it at all.
Morrigan is still a child who thinks to know better than her mother. But even a child can do things that the mother cannot.
"Your plan failed Mother. They chose to put an end to all Magic to save Thedas. T'was the obvius choice for peasants without knowledge. Even I would do the same if didn't know better." Morrigan was impatient. Something that did not matter in the Fade. She could be impatient forever and that would change nothing.
"Do you think that there will be no more wars now? Just because there will be no more Demons, Darkspawn, Dragons, and all the dangerous things born of magic? Even if only humans inhabit this world, there will always be war, death and suffering. Everything for power. Be it magic, or be it over lands, people or all Thedas. Remeber child, there will always be Evil, as long there is Good. There's always light on the shadows and shadows on the light." Flemeth sighed. She was regretting of what she had done. Her greed has once almost destroyed what she praised the most.
"If you truly can see the future, why hadn't you changed it? Why haven't you gone to the past and made it difrent" Morrigan snapped.
"Because there is none in this world who can. I have sent my soul to the past dozens of times. And this is always the same outcome" Flemeth said. Sadness was heavy in her voice.
"Oh, but 'tis so simple." Morrigan said with scorn. "For someone as powerfull as you, mother, you lack of the inteligence you said to be proud of." Delighted for the moment, but with fear of what Flemeth could do to her, she instantly continued " If no one in Thedas can change destiny, 'tis obvius to seek for someone in the Beyond. We still have one eluvian working and enough power for a summoning."
This idea could work, they could indeed summon a soul from another world, a soul which is not bound to the destiny created by the Maker.
"I was right in chosing you to be here afterall." Flemeth was surprised. She did not think of this. Maybe Morrigan was right, there could be a way to save magic. Everyone in Thedas is bound to its Destiny. But an outsider could make his own destiny, and change the destiny of Thedas itself. "Come girl, if we are going to do this, i will need your help. We are going to need all the magic we can gather."
Morrigan followed her through the desolations of the Fade as they walked toward the Eluvian. She had never seen the girl's face so dark and pained, the loss of her child was her undoing. There was nothing moving arround, the fade was decaing.
"Do you have the orb?" Flemeth said. "We are going to need it to open the portal inside the Crossroads".
"Yes, 'tis here". Morrigan showed the elven orb, stolen from Falon'Din underground temple before they were deceived by Him. "Why can't you use it yourself?"
"Because the orb is protected by an ancient spell, meant to keep it away from Fen'Harel's greed. No other God can touch it but it's owner."Although she could break the spell herself, it would cost much power that could not be spent at the moment.
When they reached the Eluvian, Flemeth touched the mirror and directed it's direction to the correct path. With a backward glance she signaled to Morrigan that the mirror was ready. Instants later both of them were in the other side.
"So, where now?" Morrigan asked. "I did not see any Eluvian that could lead to another world here before."
"Because there is none sily girl. That is why we need the orb. Come!" They walked toward what seemed to be the center of the labyrinth. There were an ancient circle in the ground with it's writings barely visible."Here it is, the Altar of Worlds. We don't have enough power to go through the Beyond, but we might have enough power to summon a passing soul from there."
Morrigan face was intrigued. "A passing soul? We are to summon the soul from the dead?"
"And why would that surprise you child?" Flemeth said and laughed. "You were the one who was playing with the souls of dead gods".
"I was merely curious about the ritual, 'twas all". But indeed Morrigan was questioning the use of someone who had died. If he was not strong enough to stay alive, how could he be strong enough to serve the purpose of the summoning?
Flemeth aproached one of the markings in the ground and with a swept of hands cleaned the dirt from it. She placed her hand into it and murmured something Morrigan couldn't understand even with the elven knowledge she adquired from the well. After a moment the marking started to shine with a pale blue light, almost like lyrium.
"Go to the center of the circle and turn yourself toward the gilph. Then use the orb as a link to it. Call upon the power Falon'Din to open a path between the worlds." Flemeth said with a deep voice filled with wisdom. She looked much more like a goddess now than ever before. Her eyes were glowing yellow. Her face, once full of wrinkles was now smooth. Her white hair was now like a silver cascate. She was young again, and beautiful.
Morrigan was shocked to see her mother like this but did as was told. She positioned herself toward the shining gilph while Flemeth was now at her side. She raised the orb toward the markings and with all her magical powers she chanted: "Oh Great Falon'Din, God of Death, God of Furtune. As once you guided the dead in the path to Beyond, now create a path from the Beyond to this place. That a connection between our worlds is now made."
The orb started to glow in the same colour as the gylph, and levitated from her hands and went toward it. When it reached the Gylph the orb exploded creating a mixture of dark green and pale light blue cloud. Inside it she could glimpse forms and lights that she could only assume were the souls of the dead in the Beyond.
"Keep the portal open while i do the summoning. Don't let it close before it is done". Flemeth said. She was now approaching the colored cloud with her arms wide open, her movement was gracious and swift.
Then Flemeth went through it.
