Yami, the third born son of the Japanese Emperor, is told he would be wed to the Pharaoh of Egypt's son the Crown Prince as his wife and was to follow in his mother's footsteps while hiding his real gender from all of Egypt during his six-week stay at the palace before the wedding. Will Yami conform to his father's expiations or to what his heart tells him to do even with the consequences of lying to the most powerful man on the face of the earth?

Egypt and Japan will be across from each other on the Mediterranean sea otherwise it's a very long time across the ocean.

Chapter 1 betrothal

Sunlight filtered into a room of a prince of 14 years, long tricolored hair of black blonde and crimson amethyst half covered sharp yet soft features soaking in the heat of the warm sun. The boy opened his eyes of hidden innocence buried deep in pools of crimson amethyst fire sitting up to meet his father and brothers for breakfast. Dressing in a black kimono with a large red bow in his back and tying his hair in a bun with two sticks he looked at his form with saddened eyes covering his face with a veil. Now dressed he slipped on his shoes grabbing his fan he made his way to the dining room sitting like a lady once his Father came in with his two older brothers Marik and Bakura who frowned at him and ignored him still mad that Yami killed their mother. Seven years after he was born their mother fell ill and died from sickness the same sickness that claimed Yami at the same time, but he survived waking in his dead mother's arms a smile of pure serenity on her face like she was in a dream. Ever since then Yami was changed from Prince to Princess on his eighth birthday learning about the women's code and never questioned his Father's decision because he was an almost exact duplicate of his mother.

emperor Keith sat down along with Bakura and Marik and began to eat all three enjoying their freshly roasted meat, rice, and veggies compared to Yami's meager amount of rice and tea. "Yami you are to start packing for a trip to see your betrothed and grandfather in Egypt. You are to be the wife and will follow the same rules I have laid out for you here. Am I understood?" he questioned his 'daughter' who nodded his voice forbidden on the palace grounds. after the food was eaten, Yami returned to his room silent tears fell from his eyes 'at least this is better than being sold off to one of my father's greedy lords in exchange for land or funds.' Yami packed what he needed which was very little leaving the room completely barren of anything that suggested he even existed. 'the son of a king to the orphaned granddaughter of an advisor to be wed to a man I don't even know. some god must eat me for what I did to my mother.'

Yami was then shipped off alone with two guards in a cheep wagon open for thieves, and the teen never spoke should the guards be loyal to his father and punish him for speaking out of turn. When they entered the port, Yami sold everything he had for a small barge to Egypt, a role of pure silks and a sewing kit. On the boat Yami sewed strips of cloth to wrap around his chest and fill with padding before creating a simple but beautiful dress that covered his legs and arms loosely to allow him to breathe, unconsciously he sewed an eye and rose pattern to his embroidery in an elegant gold and ruby thread. during the trip Yami slept not a wink and if he did he knew his Father's guards would dump ice water on him to keep him awake until they reached the palace ports. "land ho, land ho." 'we've arrived.'
