Disclaimers: Harry Potter is not mine, will never be mine (wah! All those royalties!) and is owned by JK Rowling. Though this is quite short I don't think I can add words without ruining the effect. This is an RL/SS fic. —zhyndia k.

Muggle Cooking
A Harry Potter fan fiction

It was a little-known fact that the Hogwarts reference section for Muggle Studies was comparably better kept than those of Beauxbatons or Durmstrang. Only a fraction of the young wizards and witches had shown interest in this section - not surprising, given the other esoteric arcana they can learn instead. This mundane collection, starting with books on aardvark and ended with zymurgy, was enough to make any wizard interact with the nonmagical world with pretended familiarity if not complete ease. In particular, a Slytherin had supported the section on the art of cooking for more than a decade. Marvels like "The Easy Guide to Microwave Cooking" to a treatise on the properties of a wok stood abreast each other on the fifth highest shelf of the northeast by east wall.

It was also a little-known fact that if you started from the first book to the leftmost end, and counted to thirty-seven, and then flicked your wand as you say "Accio cookbook!" one would fly off into your hand. This well-thumbed edition of "Muggle Cooking for Potions Masters" by Augusta Wythern-Smythe started the said collection, and on its frontispiece was written,

'S. I thought that since you liked Potions so much, you'd find this interesting. Happy Christmas. - R.L.'
