A/N: I will have the next chapter of Life's A Dance and Searching for the Truth out as soon as possible. I have a bit of writer's block for each story, but hopefully they will be up very soon; and thanks for asking about them!

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters associated with Higher Ground

Decisions Made1

Ezra stirred in his bed; the nightmares running through his mind becoming more than he could handle…

*Flashback*

"We aren't your real parents Ezra," his mother said while pacing back and forth across the living room.

Ezra looked up at her, furrowing his brow.

"What do you mean," he asked, more confused than ever.

His father stood up from the chair he had been sitting in and walked over to Ezra, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"We adopted you, son"

Ezra stood up and shrugged his father's hand off his shoulder. He turned to leave the room, but before he left, he turned once more to face the people that he thought were his real parents.

"Then why am I here," he muttered in between clinched teeth.

He closely watched as the man that he thought to be his father looked over at his wife, and then back at his son, expressionless.

"We needed you to save our marriage"

*End Flashback*

Ezra sat up straight in his bed, sweat dripping down his face as he struggled to catch his breath. The nightmares had never gone that far before, they had always quit after Ezra asked his father why he was there…

Ezra shook the thoughts out of his head as he slowly swung his legs over the side of the bed. He placed his hands on his knees as he looked out the window. It was still sunny out. He looked over at his bedside clock to see that it was only four in the afternoon. He yawned as he scratched his head, slowly standing up, and walked towards the window.

He stared out the window, noticing Daisy sitting on the steps of the girl's cabin. A frown formed at the corner of his lips at the thought of leaving Daisy. He shook the thought out of his head as he looked away from Daisy. He then looked out over the campus to see Auggie and David fighting, Juliete talking with Sophie, and Scott and Shelby laughing with each other. He sighed as he lowered his head. This was his family, the one he had known and cared for, the one who had known him and cared for him. He took in a deep breath as he walked away from the window and back over to his bed.

He slowly sat down on the bed and placed his head in his hands. He wondered why all this was happening to him, and why now. He sighed to himself; he had spent all his life, once he found out he was adopted, preparing to live a life--alone. Now all that planning didn't make any sense to him. After all the times he had mentioned wanting to find his biological parents, deep down, he really didn't mean it. He had gotten so used to being on his own…but now things were different. He had a decision to make, and it would possibly be the toughest decision of his life. And if not the toughest, surely the most meaningful.
