September 1st came around quickly this year, I was finally heading off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I was the last one in my family to attend, and the expectations off my parents were extremely high.
'They could have at least come to wave me off,' I thought miserably to myself. Ebony and Eli my older siblings had already ran off and were probably already on the train. After years of watching them enter the secret platform, I entered it with ease and straight into the arms of a very blonde, handsome young boy.
"Wow, watch yourself," he said, rubbing at his robes as if I'd put germs all over him.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," I say, blushing and looking down at my shoes. "I'm…"
"Eva," I hear, looking over my shoulder, I see Eli running towards me. "Where on earth have you been? I was starting to wonder if you'd got lost."
"Well," I start to answer.
"Never mind, you're here now," he says. "I see you've made a friend already."
"Mr. Quinn," the blonde boy says, looking up at Eli. "I didn't know that this lovely girl was a friend of yours."
"A friend? No mate, this here is my younger sister, Eva," Eli replies with a look of disgust on his face. "And you better stay away from her, or your father will hear about some of your, let's say, dastardly choices last year."
The blonde boy walks away looking both sad and furious.
"And the need in that was...?" I ask Eli. "You don't want to mess with the Malfoys. You hear what father and mother say about them. They claim that The Dark Lord has vanished forever; but we know the truth," he answers.
I look up at him with fear in my eyes. "I'm going to find an empty carriage, and don't bother following me."
After walking the length of the train, I finally find a nearly empty carriage. A red haired girl around my age sat by herself.
"May I sit?" I ask her.
"Sure," she says. "I'm Ginny."
"I'm Eva," I say, relaxing in my seat. "Is it your first year too?"
"Yeah, and I'm pretty nervous," she replies.
"I'm sure we'll be fine," I say, laughing nervously.
Two red haired boys enter our carriage. "Ginny, I see you've made a friend without our help. Well we'll be off to find Lee, he claims he's found another secret passage into Hogsmede."
"That's my brother Fred, and his twin George," Ginny says. "They think they know everything."
"Oh, I know all about that," I tell her. "My sister Ebony has recently been made prefect, and my brother Eli thinks he can boss me around all the time."
The train starts to pick up speed as it heads far into the English countryside. I look out of the window, wondering what the Muggles are doing.
"Eva, it's time to get changed, we're nearly there," Ebony says, sticking her head through our carriage door.
"I'm so nervous," I say to Ginny, as we both start to put on our robes. "I wonder what house I'll be in."
"I hope I'm in Gryffindor," she says. "My whole family has been in there, and I don't want to be the only one who isn't."
"Oh, I hope I'm wherever you are," I say smiling. "At least I know I'll have a friend.",
The train starts to slow and I look out of the window. 'What a big castle,' I think to myself, looking up at Hogwarts.
"Firs' years this way. Firs' years." A loud voice shouts over the train and the station.
'This is it,' I think. 'My life is hopefully about to change.'
