"Isn't it beautiful, Stein? Soon, there will be a new world!" Her voice... her voice constantly breaks through the noise...it's the only thing he could ever hear besides that static that would never go away. The noise...it hurt!
She giggled, sitting in front of her orb with a smile too wicked for the child's body she inhabited. "Come look, Stein." Once again, a single moment of clarity, of just her voice before it disappears. Closer he comes, crawling, practically slithering like one of her vectors that she adores so much.
Closer, that's what he wants to do. Be closer and maybe she could make it stop. The horrible noise...why did it hurt so much? "It hurts..." He whimpered, squeezing his eyes shut and clenched his jaw down on the cigarette between his lips.
"I know..." She whispered, putting a gentle hand to his face...pressure was what he felt, just pressure but no warmth.
"How do I make it stop...?" He asked, opening his eyes and sat up slowly. "How do I fix it?"
"I've told you before that you don't fix it, there is no fixing it." She told him, placing her small form in his lap and dragged her fingers through his hair. Why was there no warmth? No warmth...just static and noise...painful noise...
"Then how do I make it stop...it hurts..." She smiled at him, eyes narrowing.
"Destroy it...destroy what causes the pain..." She whispered to him, turning back to her orb.
"Destroy it..." He repeated, face going blank. That was all there was to it. No fixing it...she said he couldn't fix it...so he would destroy it. "Destroy it,"
He smiled then, lips twisted and eyes wide. It wouldn't stop...it wouldn't go away...there was no fixing it...only she could break through...so...he would destroy it...destroy the noise..."Destroy it..." He whispered.
"Yes, Stein, destroy it..." The witch in his lap giggled, glancing to the crazed doctor. He could try to destroy it...but there would be no destroying the all consuming madness...
A/N: So, I just finished watching Soul Eater today. It's awesome, seriously. A few scenes caught my attention. Specifically, the ones between Medusa and Stein toward the end when Stein had gone crazy. The dynamics between those two were amazing! I adored the way that he could only hear her and everyone else was just noise. The way he just sat there while she crawled in his lap, monologueing to Chrona and Marie. How he crawled off the pillar to sit by her or how she told him to destroy the noise and he started attacking people! These two together are just...awesome! So it prompted me to write this! My first Soul Eater fan fiction! I hope I got the dynamics right between them! Comments would be greatly appreciated!~ Ciao! Love Stripes!
